Say what you want, but I'm not taking anything away from Spies despite
what you may think. I think he's a great rider who could win the
    championship this year. Period.

I'm also not going to back down on my belief that Yamaha has made a
very good bike that could prove to be the bike to have this year.
It's too early to tell but it looks pretty good.

First of all posting Q times and pole's is not a spoiler and it never
has been, get over it, or whatever.
Let me make this crystal clear for you, your schedule isn't going to
dictate what, or when I post, sorry Neal RMR wasn't designed that way
and you should damn well know it by now, though the fact you blindly
followed Bond down that road does say something. BTW, I'm still waiting
for you, or someone to tell me how long it's been since a Spies like
event has happened? C'mon, don't be bashful..
Actually, I think it's you that's lost here, but I'll lay it
differently and maybe you'll grasp it, 'kay?
Tell me what 2 guys in this group talk about WSB more than anyone? What
2 guys were pretty silent about Spies PI win? What 2 guys continually
claim The WSS races the "best?" What 2 guys neither sought, nor offered
comment when Spies began dominating the Q in Qatar? Now, someone who is
familiar with them and their postings in this group might make a
conclusion on that alone, but I took it a step farther just to give you
both an opportunity to comment on what surely is the biggest story in
WSB in years, if not all time.

As I said earlier, I thought Julian was a gimmee and his righteous
indignation was comical given his history of disclosing support race
winners while discussing SB, or MGP, but he's taken hypocrisy to new
levels and it was sorta' expected. However, what semi-surprised me was
you following him down the same road. Look Champ, this wasn't about
polling/trolling people I didn't even know existed and by in large
never contribute here, it was about 2 guys that do and were apparently
not real comfortable with a USAin pissin' in what they consider their
backyard pool and like I said, I find that stuff interesting..
Oh boy, big talk. In this thread alone you've disparaged Spies's AMA
titles and then noted the WSS are the best races and this is while an
event is unfolding, that, as far as I know, has never happened
before???? Give me a fuckin' break! I seriously doubt either one of you
would be so quiet if Shakey, or Sykes had been over here bitch slapping
    the field.

Tell me something seriously, do you guys practice this crap, or does it
    just come natural?

    For instance;
    {Bond}
    {You}
It certainly was at Qatar - amazing stuff!

Yeah, a new guy clubbing the field on a new bike, tires, continent,
team, and tracks certainly doesn't rise to that level, does it?

Only because you don't get Superpole or any qualifying on TV.

You made a mistake. I called you on it. That's all. Get over it.

Oh, FFS! The best *race* of the day at Qatar was WSS (IMHO). Yes, Ben's
Peas was amazing both in Philip Island and in Qatar. And a 75% win rate
after 4 races is really quite extraordinary. The WSB races had their
moments and were pretty damn good in both venues. But the WSS race at
both places were better races. So now The Great White Hope is racing,
we're not allowed to talk about anything else?

And am I now to be insulted because I *don't* post? How novel.

What, a rider new to the series being fast straight away? How about
Biaggi - a 2nd then a 1st at his opening WSB weekend, I think. What
    was that, two years ago.

    <shrug>

I dunno. Which two guys are you talking about? ****, there's less
than a dozen regulars here, and I can't think of two guys who match
    your description.
No I haven't. Stop making stuff up. <thinks> Oh, you mean when I
said a national title wasn't as good as a world title? Well, for you
to count that as 'disparaging' shows how warped your world view is.
You're easily impressed. Or very forgetful. Do you not remember
    Haga's debut races at Donington?
Just because you're a xenophobic wanker, don't tar everyone else with
the same brush. I wouldn't give a shit if Shakey or Sykes were
winning. For me, it's the *racing* that counts.
You've obviously not seen it, then, because it very obviously *was*
the best *race* of the day. Y'see, Tom, for me (and I guess Julian),
the quality of a race has nothing to do with who eventually wins it.
No, it doesn't. It's interesting, but it's not necessarily good
racing. Both the WSB races at Qatar were a little dull, to my eyes.

But now I see what your criteria are for good racing - it's when a
good ol' boy wins. No matter whether he had to fight for it, or won
it by 20 seconds, it's the (right) result that makes it a good race.

Or how about just last year! A new class rookie who's never raced big
bikes before takes the first three pole positions of the season and
finishes second, third, and first in the most advanced series on the
planet. At that moment in time Jorge Lorenzo was just as big a phenom
as anyone considering that MotoGP is supposed to be the pinnacle of
    motorcycle roadracing.

Then look what happened. Reality set in.

I don't think that will happen to Spies because I've watched his
methodical demeanor for the past five years or so. But the lesson is
still clear that it's far too early in the season to proclaim Ben the
champion elect. The R1 might start having niggling problems. Ben
might crash hard and have lingering injuries all season. The rest of
the pack might just step up to Ben's level of competition. Who knows?
That's what we're going to find out over the next 7 months or so!

I guess this is supposed to be an ironic back-at-ya to Mark N with his
EuroGod and Pedrobot fixations, but really, it does make it look like you
    don't like the guy already.

Perhaps you prefer "Ben's Pies" ?

    It's a Performance Bikes Magazine[1] in-joke. Little worse than
    "Elbowz", shirly?

    Na, not really. :)
Maybe, maybe not. I'm just saying how it looks.

In a thread where you seem to be claiming that you don't have anything
against the guy, twisting his name into some sort of joke doesn't seem to
    help your cause.
Yeah, that's something to point and laugh at for sure!

Courtesy is one thing, but once the E-zines are running the story as a
Headline the blinders come off and to think otherwise is ludicrous,
especially in the context of a NEWS Group..

    Really? Coulda' fooled me..
Followers? Though I'm sure Ben's got his groupies I'm unaware of any
here, I do recall a few guys trying to explain to you that a couple of
the best SB drivers ever were racing here in the states and if either
one decided to test the water in Euroland they'd more than likely have
their way and IIRC, both you and your side-kick said we were totally
full of sh*t too. In fact, I recall a few discussion's over the last
few years concerning Ben and neither you, or Neal held out much (any)
hope for success. So tell me, how's that lookin' these days?
After years of hearing about US rider's putting money before the glory
of a "World Championship" some might suggest you maybe should be
    preparing a pie, to wear...

    Nope, not even close..
    No surprise there..
All I know is what you write Champ..
    Again, not even close..
Me Xenophobic? Hardly, though I don't mind seeing arrogance dinning on crow..
If you say they were great I believe it, but what Ben has done and
might very well be in the process of accomplishing has never been done
as far as I can tell and while for sure this season's young and
anything can happen, I find it remarkable that the 2 dudes that comment
most on WSB had to be sorta' dogged into saying something about it..
Did you hurt your head at the IOM too? Special events aid most people
in remembering things from the past, for instance, I knew Rossi's was a
top shelf guy, but when he went to Yam and repeated it sealed his
awesomeness for all time, though if this boy keeps it up that will pale
in comparison, at least in my book. Winning by 20 secs? No thanks,
we've seen enough of that over the last 4 years, or so. Heh, it might
    be your turn now...

Just so you know, I just got some real bad news about an old friend and
I gotta go out of State for a while, so any response is probably going
to depend on how quick the great State of Louisiana can find the
    shitstain that killed him, later...

A considerable quantity of fail exhibited with the false dichotomy
contained above - who says that close racing and a lot of passing -
"versus" - superior talent, mature skills and tactics are mutually
    exclusive?

Unless you are twisting great ride/perfect race first person post-race
quote experience into meaning great racing, which I think you are.

I guess I have to spell it out. Most of the motorcycling TV I watch is
in real time, but occasionally it doesn't work out that way. On Friday,
I'd been in a meeting in London all day. So I set the recorder to watch
Superpole. When I got back, I thought I'd just check email and make sure
the servers were working before sitting down to watch Superpole. I made
the mistake of checking rec.moto.racing and see your subject line.
Great, now I know who won and my enjoyment of the TV is spoilt. So I
fired off a reply saying "please, don't post spoilers in subject lines".
I wasn't particularly upset but it's just common etiquette across all
the racing forums and it needed saying again. You can put whatever you
like in the main body of the post because I actually have to open the
post to read it. But the subject line stands out. It's not hard. It
doesn't hurt anyone to do it right, but it helps to avoid mistakes.

All that has absolutely nothing to do with nationality, wind ups,
calling Americans "Septics" or anything else. It's about being polite
and showing common courtesy to people who may not have seen the race yet
and don't want to know the result.

So please, be careful with subject lines and don't put spoilers in them.
    Just don't.

Yes, when spelled "spies" it is usually pronounced "spies." However,
I was saying that every commentator in the US I have ever heard has
pronounced his name "spees." Right or wrong, it's how I've always
heard it pronounced. And when it comes to a person's name, I never
consider the conventional pronunciation to be gospel. I've run across
too may that were spelled one way and pronounced another to really
    care much about what's "right."
