For two of us - £135 each.
I don't fly if I can help it.
Big "if"! Plus that process would take a lot longer than 5 hours.

Yeah, you're both right. And it can take ages to go a short distance
if the services don't match where you want to go. But I have to say we
use public transport quite a lot now, and it's certainly good much of
    the time.

I seem to recall Steve being a little less reticent concerning the
exercise of state power, during his post-9/11 hissy fits ...

and, as colin already pointed out, he only got such an astoundingly low
price on account of being a gimmer.

    heh.

When I was first into bikes, the cold war was moderately warm (1980).
As I lived about 5 miles from GCHQ, which would a) be a first strike
target and b) had a dead straight 3 mile dual carriageway leading from
it, I used to say that on the four minute warning I'd get half way
along the cariageway, with my back to GCHQ, and wait for the blast
shock to accelerate me into oblivion.

  10. People change, or rather, some people change.

    You patently haven't.

That's something you'll continue to have to live with I guess, whereas
at least the rest of us have the luxury of being able to bung you in a
killfile if we can be arsed.

Oh, and as per the comments to Bonwick elsewhere in this thread,
continually using someone who chooses to post under a pseudonyms real
name is the work of a ****..

And yes, I admit there's a tinge of irony in stating the above given
I've been known to do it in the distant past, but then as per my
comments above, being a **** need not be a lifelong commitment.

  12. I appreciate advances in technology have made monitoring everyone /
thing that little bit easier, but, and I might be wrong, but I don't
recall administrations in the UK prior to the current shower pushing
through so many bills to make so many, what you might consider to be
    relatively trivial, things an offence.

It's as if they're obsessed with it?

Maybe it's just me... but that's how it seems, and it does now appear
that now they've quietly pushed through a load of the legal framework,
they're now looking to tighten the screws on us all.

    Unless it's called Steve Coombs.

Ah, 'ang on ... let me rephrase that. A _cock_ is for Christmas....

  15. Nor am I... much as it might seem like it at times.

If the above came across as patronising, then I apologise - it wasn't
meant as a direct dig, more it just seems in general that people are
sitting back and accepting that what is happening in this country is
    just the way it is?

The fact that there almost certainly is **** all we can do about it
now, doesn't stop me personally from getting a bit wound up about it.

Nor was I but I got the tired old "with the greatest respect" followed
up by being told I was blinkered so I just gave up and decided that I
might as well suck shit through a straw as carry on with the
    conversation.

I don't mind because I'm busy with work atm and once that's done I'll
concentrate on spending the loot rather than worrying about how to
    avoid paying parking charges.

Excellent bit of imagery there. Sort of reminds me of Space Ritual.

The re-entry scene was nicked from a Ray Bradbury story (Kaleidoscope). I
remember the first time I saw the film, going "Hey! That's from..."

I haven't got one yet and anything could happen before I decide it's
    time for a change.

The fuckers stiffed me when they changed the engine size because I was
looking at one of the first 312's being available at the sort of price
I'd be happy to pay but now the goalposts have been moved a bit and
I'm fighting the urge to get a newer one.
You wouldn't want the next generation clit bike anyway.
