Selling my bike privately...

So, with a view to maybe getting something with a bit more grunt[1], I'm
    looking at shifting my ZZR600.

Ideally I'm after a ZZR11, but they seem to be rarer than rocking horse shit
in showrooms at the moment, and I can't part-ex my old bike if they haven't
got one! I don't really want to sell my bike direct to a showroom, as I know
I'm not going to get as much for it as I would privately[2].

So, seeing as I've never done it before, can anyone offer me
advice/tips/what to look out for, should I decide to sell privately? And, I
guess, where the best place to advertise it would be?

    Ta.

    [1] Possibly Lozzo's ZZR1100 :)
    [2] Right?

The only place to advertise it would be MCN, IMHO.

    [snip]
I sold my Thundercat a couple of months ago, and I found that MCN beats the
Biketrader hands-down. I had the same ad placed in each. When in
Biketrader I received 1 call (from Glasgow) in the two weeks the ad was
placed. For MCN Bikemart I received 20 calls, and sold the bike.
