    .... here's mine.

Left home Saturday lunchtime, aboard a shiny new clean Gold Wing.
Well, not new, exactly, but clean.

It was a bit wet, cos of all the rain that fell whilst packing took
place, but that just made it more shiny looking.

Anyhow, off down the Highway, down to Old Street, and up what used to
be the A1 to Highbury Corner. Everyone up the Holloway Road was
wearing a football shirt of some description - Arsenal or Villa.

Filled up at the Esso garage at the bottom of Falloden Way, then of up
the A1/M1 to the grim north.

One didn't have to go that far north before hitting "grim", though:
the roadworks on the M1 (from J6a to 10) and occasional standing water
    problems saw to that.

Once through that it was onto the M6, and thanks to the roadworks
preventing me taking the A38 [1] it was down the M5 towards Tipton.

On the way, I was again taken aback by a rampaging horde in football
shirts - this time WBA supporters.

Nevertheless, I found the statue of the Tipton Slasher[2] in a nearby
park, and then set off for Telford.

The roads into Shropshire[3] got narrower and wetter as a I pressed
on, and by the time I'd arrived at Coalport, the road resembled a
small stream. Still, I got the picture of the memorial footbridge
between Jackfield and Coalport, and, after a cup of the most
disgusting coffee[4], and a bloater paste[5] bap, I was off to
    Staffordshire.

At the side of the road, was a stone to mark the crash site of a
Lancaster, and, having filled up with fuel again, it was off to
    Hulland Ward.

I arrived just as it started to rain, got the tent up before visiting
the bar, and had too much to drink. Not *much* too much, just about
enough too much. I felt fine in the morning - after breakfast.

I was a bit cold when I woke up needing a pee around five o'clock -
though this could be due to the fact that my sleeping back and
mattress thing were still in the panniers of the Wing. At least I was
suitably dressed for wandering off for a wee, though.

After the usual post-breakfast CIHAGM, during which I stalled WC's
660, and struggled to come to terms with the PlatyBarge[6], I set off
northwards toward Monyash. A quick picture of the old Smithy, and it
was back on the Buxton Road towards Stockport. From Buxton I took the
A5004 to Whaley Bridge, which was a fun road - except for the drizzle
    and low cloud.

From Whaley Bridge it was a slow plod into Stockport - I was amazed
that it seemed that every other commercial establishment was a pub.

Once I'd got my picture of the memorial to the 1957 air disaster, I
had another bap, and tipped the remnants of the coffee down a drain.

    Next stop - Yorkshire.

I followed the M60/M67 through Hyde, then the A628/6024 to Holmfirth -
very entertaining. Empty, too; prolly cos of the weather.

Got my pic of the eastern end of the Standage Tunnel at Marsden [7],
then we had a bit of GPS lunacy. Next stop was a church in Darfield,
near Barnsley - GPS said 18.3 miles East, as the crow flies. It then
took nearly five minutes over a route, suggesting it would be best to
go back into Lancs, down the M6, along the A50, then up the M1. 177
miles, all in. Needless to say, I ignored it, and followed the A635 to
    Barnsley.[8]

Got the memorial to a colliery explosion - on which some kind soul had
chalked in the letters to make the more legible, then it was south to
    Notts.

When I arrived at the Papplewick Pumping station, it was closed. I
took a pictue anyway, and plodded on down the M1 to Ibstock. There,
the landmark was a sculpture containg various local landmarks, sat on
    top of a time capsule.

That was me done for the weekend, then - all I needed to do was tank
it down the M1, and get home.

Of course the nose-to-tail traffic from J14 to J6 didn't help, and it
took about an hour longer than I expected.[9]

Stil, I'm up to 36 now, out of 84, and there's nothing nearer than 150
miles from home left to do.[10]

This weekend: Wales or the Far North? Or B&Q/Sainsbury's?

[1] I thought this was in Cornwall?
    [2] A boxer - bareknuckle.
[3] Telford and the Wrekin, actually.
[4] Coffeemate doesn't dissolve properly in boiling water.
[5] I'd not had bloater paste in years, I now know why.
[6] Surprisingly tiny. A bit remote in the handling department. Not
quite as sprightly as I had expected, but it goes well enough. Doesn't
stop too badly, either. A bargain.
[7] Which Linda saw on the telly on Saturday. 3.7 mile rail and canal
    tunnel under the moors.
[8] There was a "missing map" in between the two locations.
[9] Lots of Chavved up Civics and similar on the motorway, and a
convoy of RS Cossie Fords, too.
[10] Now done 2,123 miles in the five eekends since Chimay. Finishing
the rally in three lumps will add a further 3500-3600 miles to the
Wing's odo. I've also got to squeeze a week in France in somewhere.

What is this rally? I have seen a couple of these write-ups from you and
thought there'd be a clue in there somewhere as to what it is you're
doing but I haven't figured it out yet.

What? All your empties? I'm sure Donna was thrilled at fetching all
    that off to the skip.

Mandy got them. She didn't mind. Those cunts who camped at the end left
    more.

If she really 'didn't mind' then she's even more of a saint than I
    thought she was.

Really bad form, leaving empties lying about. What with that, the
incident that rattled Loz and the turning up of random campers, I can
see an end to this coming soon.

  14. SD. I have the bottles both half full, I'll keep them for you until
next time, even though certain people told me to drink them.

I really don't mind Pip, & thank you.
Don't worry Mike & Mu are ok about the events of the weekend,
everything is back to normal up here.

That's good. See what happens when I'm not there to ensure good

They're not mine, missus. You can bath the cat in it for all I care.

I just felt a bit guilty at not finishing tidying up the mess before
    you got down there.

A dearth of Essex Lad types obviously. Firstborn was telling us this

they left behind two crates full of bottles, all still full of beer.

Yeah, nice gesture, I am quite proud my kids do things like that. It is
stuff like that which tugs at the old parental heart strings it is and
allows you the odd superior "I made that" moment. Good it is.
