I'd like a days work in Christchurch, but the Exchange Server bit is
out. I'll take a look at it for half the money if you like.

Beautiful place. One of the few areas in the UK I'd *really* like to
    move to.

I moved there years ago & still love living there. Just wish I could
work nearer home too, hence my generous offer to "have a look".

I visited a few years ago when Sarah was working in Poole. I nearly
died when I saw the price of property! Is it still through the roof?
I know it is east of the New Forest with all the London folk having
    moved in.

Dunno how the prices compare with anywhere else in the south - I haven't
considered moving for many years. The prices here do make me laugh though.
I can't believe how much our near neighbours sold their place for, or
how much they are paying for a place with a bigger garden.

If I want a real laugh, I just check out the prices for beach huts. I've
bought houses for less money than some of those beach huts, and you
can't even sleep in them overnight.

  7. Looking at cars earlier in the year I walked away from one because I
couldn't bring myself to seriously consider paying more for a car than
I did for my first house.

I've yet to cross that particular threshold - but I am trying ;)

  9. It helps that the house was in 1982.

    Rope says...
I paid £24,500 for my first one, in the nicer part of Putnoe, Bedford in
1981. It'd be worth about 7 or 8 times that much now.

    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

I'd have to be in an Aston Martin dealership in order to do that.

    It'd be nice.

  13. Unfortunately it was a Peugeot dealer.

Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren Mercedes, or Zonda, for me.
    Hell yeah.

Hmm. I don't think I could do that at a peugeot dealer, but a BMW 530d
M Sport Touring would cost more than my first house, and that's hardly
    exotic.

And took it back and got his money back a couple of months later
    after numerous problems.
    See above.
Didn't he do overland to Stockholm in one against Hammond & May doing
    the ferry & train thing?

Don't mention Hammond, you'll have BGN frantically rummaging for the
    Kleenex like a man possessed!

I couldn't remember where I'd seen it but the full story's here:

I saw that I also liked the one where they were going skiing and he
overtook them as they walked up the hill from the bus station to the
chalet. That was in a Ferrari - 612 I think. It had squeaky
    windcreen wipers )

According to buyacar.co.uk, the most expensive car I could
get without going over the price of my flat[1] is a Audi A8
6.0 Quattro LWB although for a bit less I'd rather have the
    Supercharged Jag XKR Convertible.
