you're going to hell regardless, Johno :p
I was thinking maybe YZF750... or was it the GSXR7/11?
right up there with the ZX10.

I thought the Yam turbo was a XJ650? I believe the second was the Kwaka
750 - I had 2 of them and wrote them both off :(

XJ650 or CX500... probably the XJ.
    ~
The CX had a largish 3/4 fairing but the XJ was full. The BMW R100RS may've beaten it though.
CB1100RD would've been pretty close too.

    1st with upside down forks

From memory of an AMCN article on suspension, early Harley's had USD forks. Sure, they had no oil damping, but they met the
criteria of USD in that the internal tube was attached to the wheel.

    Good answer!
I think Gold Wing Interstaters were out about 1978 so that beats sportsbikes (and "superbikes") by a few
    years.
(I was wrong. According to http://100megsfree4.com/honda/h1100/wing.htm it was 1980 before they got a full
    fairing.)

I think so. I have an '81 two wheels talking of the brand new CX turbo
and I'm pretty sure my weird mate Paul was already using his copper's
get out of jail free card for his XJ turbo before that.

I'd not consider the ner-a-car's fairing as "full". I think the Vincent Black
    Prince qualifies though.

Hrm. I am fairly sure there were some mechanical fuel injected ones
before that, but no names come to mind.

Probably something truly bizzarre like a Bradshaw or some French thing.
