Starting to think about what I need to get prepared for the TT. I'm sailing from Liverpool on 3/6 on what, I think, is the faster Seacat ferry.

I know the Blackbird with full givi luggage and a tankbag is going to be a bit of a barge so I'm wondering whether I should secure it on it's side stand or the centre stand? I know these boats can knock along a bit and I am concerned that if it's on the centre stand it might pass the balance point and come off the stand?

I know the crew will tie it down but is the view that I should also take my own securing straps?

Oh.........and what are the do's & don't for the ferry and the TT..........apart from the obvious take a bike and don't crash it.

You may get more replies if you get your line wrap sorted! Try a
decent newsreader like Forte Agent or Gravity.

How many bikes per year do you think the ferry crew load and secure
for crossings? Let them worry about the bike and you worry about
doing a hot lap as soon as you get off the ferry.

What is a good time these days with the extended speed limits?

When I used to head out there, being a good boy in the limits, I
    managed about 30mins.

I'm expecting Daz to be posting the preliminary pole time before we
get there because he's on an earlier ferry.

I haven't got the faintest idea what a good time is for open roads,
an early morning start is supposed to be the way to go but we'll have
to wait for Mr Champion to pop up and tell us his previous best.

There are so many limits now that if you *really are a good boy* it is
hardly worth bothering with the section from Douglas to Ramsey. Limits
most of the way including Glen Helen and all the way from Sulby to
    Ramsey :(

Lots of people can be seen just going over the mountain, back to Ramsey
via the coast road and over again. They've even started the limit before
the Creg, so what used to be an absolutely banzai thrash down as far as
    Hillberry is no more (legally).

The alternative to an early morning start can be an early evening lap
timed to coincide with everyone else having their full board evening
meal. I've had surprisingly traffic free runs over the mountain around
7pm - still loads of traffic in Douglas though.

Do's and don'ts on the ferry ? Do as the crew ask you. Don't start up
your bike until you are sure you can actually ride off. It always used
to be the owner of a particularly smoky two-stoke who insisted on
kippering everyone for minutes by starting up too soon. Thankfully there
are not so many 'stink-wheels' about these days.

I've no intention of taking any notice of speed limits on what I
consider 'open roads' if I'm out in the early hours but I'll try to
behave in built up areas. My only concern is speed traps and fines
that use my beer tokens thus spoiling the holiday.

He's got the "it's not my bike" and the "I'm not a morning person"

It doesnt matter what stand as they just rope 4 or 5 together between the
railings and it will have swapped paint with another before you get there...
Last year my exhaust can was awash with Honda Firestorm yellow.

    It's only a bike )

Happy memories of that section in the days when I used to camp at
Ballacuberagh just up the Sulby Glen road a way. Ginger Hall to Ramsey
was done many. many times. A particular favourite was Milntown cottage.
I remember getting so inspired two up on the 75 Strada one day that I
got in a most un-Morini like wiggle.

Indeed. Similar to Bishopscourt to Ballaugh (as long as you put the
junctions to the back of your mind on open roads). Kerb, white line,
kerb white line...... Completely different though perhaps on closed
roads? Really pissed off that the VMCC parade from Ballacraine to Ramsey
was cancelled at last year's Manx as I was looking forward to it even
    more than the Mountain.

[1] The most significant is 'the Mountain'. Just after Ramsey hairpin to
halfwayish down from Kates's cottage to the Creg,

[2] Cronk y Voddy straight to Kirchmichael.

    [3] Bishopscourt to Ballaugh.

[4] Just after Ballaugh to start of Sulby straight - includes Quarry
    Bends - enjoy!

Plus other odd short bits between Douglas and Ballacraine.
