Seats for Pillions

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mr. Fantastic, Nov 2, 2006.

  1. Matey has an '02 (I think) 6R and wants to carry his missus around on
the back. The standard pillion pad isn't up to much - too small, too
    hard and too slippery apparently.

Does the FOAK know any good places where the seat could be altered to
get rid of these problems? Preferably somewhere that won't make it look
like it fell off a bitsa 'special'.

    Ta!

A fair bit of the problem could be resolved by sorting the slipperyness. I
achieved this on the VFR by covering the pillion section with this stuff:

cut to size and stapled in place. As this is way cheaper than anything
else, I suggest you try it first.

Indeed although Halfords do the same sort of thing you cut to size for
your car dash to stop ones keys, CDs and fags flying everywhere.

Buggered if I can find it on their website though.

    Google for Bagsters "Comfort seats".

I've got one on the Zed though and it's a million times more comfy for my
backseater. And for me too, come to that.

Bagster want silly money (250 quid) AND your original seats, but I got mine
off Fleabay, brand new and boxed for 2/3 what Bagster wanted.

It turned my Zed from being a painful 150 mile per day bike into a pretty
comfortable 600 miler. If you really want one, check out Fleabay, coz the
shop I got mine from had them for a raft of different bikes and in a good
range of colurs too. Sorry, I can't remenber what the shop was called.

Boyfriend has had the pillion seat of his Mille altered, comfy &
larger. (Not on my behalf I hasten to add! The ex was larger than
me.) Gel seat inserts are good & recover with non-slip material.
Sargent are also supposed to be very good
