I can neither confirm nor deny the following report. All I can say is YIKES!

    I'm seeking some seat wisdom.

Two years ago I replaced my worn out Russell solo saddle on my 1976
R60/6 with a Rick Mayer solo saddle built on my original stock seat
pan. I had some fairly irritating billing problems with Rick and he
missed the build date by more than 2 months but the seat looked great
when it arrived. Unfortunately I've never been able to get more than
150-200 miles down the road without my butt protesting mightily and due
to the billing 'difficulties' and late delivery I decided to just write
the whole experience off rather than hassle with sending the seat back
and forth to California. A sheepskin cover let me get 1000+ miles a
day. I'm now using an Airhawk pad which works well comfortwise but
shifts around and looks kinda' funky (Yeah, "funky" on a 1976 cycle
with a Windjammer and fuel cell :)). I'd also like the seat to 'work'
without a large layer of extra padding.

As I was pondering this tonight I removed the edging on the seat and
pulled back the cover to see what type of foam Rick used to make the
seat. I found the reason the seat had never felt any different than
the original BMW seat. Rick glued a wing to each side of the original
1976 seat foam and slapped on a new cover. Other than the add on wings
I'm sitting on 28 year old sacked-out foam. For $350.00.

So even though its not winter, and the scheduled time for the seat
thread :) , tell me what works. I'm shifting between a Russell again
or a Rocky Mayer, but I'm open to suggestions.
