    Hello all.

    Due to SeanH having to go out he's asked me to let you all know that
    he's just purchased his first bike. A Kawasaki GPZ500S off of ebay:

    <http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4607759575>

    25,800 miles '96 N-Reg. £820.

    Parkers say:

    Original Price £ 4395
    Independent Dealer £ 1390
    Private Good £ 1175
    Private Poor £ 825
    Part Exchange £ 960

    So it doesn't look like he's done too badly.

    He expects to be travelling from Brighton to Leicester sometime during
    the week, possibly Thursday, to pick it up depending on when the
    Seller is available.

    Are there any clued up UKRMers in the local area of Brighton or
    somewhere along the way that may be able to accompany him on his
    journey to see if there is anything fundamentally wrong with this
    vehicle which would be good cause to walk away?

    It's either that or he'll ask me to go along with him and I know
    little more than **** all about bikes.

    Well, Sweller's in Hove so he's probably the closest one.
    I'd be happy to lend a hand but I'm away next weekend and I really
    can't do during the week.

    I'd have thought someone local to Leicester would be more useful

    I assumed that an additional translator would be required as I don't
    think Sean's Urdu is up to scratch.

    spare time now his exams have finished.

    Yoohoo...

    :eek:))

    I'd be glad to accompany him up to Leicester to pick it up. Any day
    except the Wednesday the 1st, coz I've got a meeting that day.

    You're a star, Mark. I think he was planning on going up on Thursday
    2nd Feb (it's his day off) depending on when the Seller is available
    but he's full of the New Licence First Bike Giddiness so someone that
    can look at the bike and say "You'll need one of those, a new one of
    these and that's going to die soon." will be a valuable voice of
    reason. He's doing an HND in Engineering or somesuch and is always
    taking engines and cars apart (he's got a Shit Old Mini) so a bike
    shouldn't be too much of a mechanical challenge. I feel your opinion
    would be very helpful.

    No probs Nick, always glad to help if I can. I'll email you about it
    later. Or he can email me direct, whatever.. I take it he lives in
    Brighton? Is he taking a van, or wanting a lift up there on the Bandit?

    He lives in Brighton too. Somewhere on the West <looks at map>. Just
    south of the Shoreham Bypass and north of Upper Shoreham Road. In
    there somewhere.
    He's quite small and he went pillion for four hours one day on the
    back of my ER-5 so I suppose he could fit on the back of a Bandit
    without issue. He'd only done a CBT then so was quite cooperative on
    the back of mine. Now that's he's done the full DAS he might be a bit
    more "leanee" but I may be talking rubbish.

    I think he was going to get a lift up with his parents in their car.
    This option would save you having to ride all the way there and back
    as you could just hop in the car too.

    From the little information that is on the page it looks like it might
    need a new clutch lever (£8.50 from Busters) as it's "bent" after a
    drop in the snow. One would hope that the picture on the site was
    taken after the drop happened... After having a rummage through his
    previous auctions he's also recently bought a GPZ500 front brake
    caliper.

    <http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10464&item=8013465946>

    He's also recently bought a remote *car* alarm & immob system and the
    bike is listed as having a remove alarm and immob system on it, which
    I'm sure doesn't come as standard. I'm not sure if one can bodge one
    of these into a bike, so it may just be a coincidence.

    <fx: gets the GPS out>

    Ahh...

    <fx: points...>

    That direction?
    I think it helps having rode a bike. I've had big heavy mates on the
    back that were a lot better pillions than short spotty yoofs with no
    clue and a scooter.
    Sounds good.
    I'm sure you can bodge anything onto a bike. :)

    Hmm, not Big Tony's mate Sean then, he's tall, does unspeakable things on a
    CG125 and makes camping a very entertaining past-time.

    I doubt that's Nick's mate - that guy's been dead for 39 years and 2 days.
