If anyone is interested, after several years with no BMW bike
franchise in the West of Scotland someone has finally filled the gap

    Hurrah!

[1] It is better with the accent, obviously.[2]

Yeah. They're opening a dealership in Edinburgh soon too.

They've been there ages. They seem to be popular amongst Scots with R-GSes.

Not necessarily - it shows that someone has switched brands...

  8. Um, IIRC, BMW don't let their dealers have any used bikes other than
    BMWs on their showroom floors.

The Older Gentleman emerged from their own little world to say
    Complete bollocks.

They do pressurise their dealers, like Honda, to become solus. To achieve
this they will often lend a dealer cash to convert premises to a solus
    dealership at attractive rates.

However, I bought my bike from Bath Road Motorcycles in Bristol. They only
had a BMW franchise but sold all makes of bike including new parallel
    imports.

They have been doing rather well and have just taken the BMW shilling to
expand by opening up a solus dealership just a short distance from their
exisitng premises, which has now become an all makes used bike outlet.
Consequently, they have got the reputation of offering slightly better
part-ex prices than some of the more corporate dealerships.

Likewise, BVM in Stroud who own their own premises have many non-BMW bikes
    in stock: http://www.bvm-moto.co.uk/otherroad.htm

  10. Fairy nuff.

The two solus BMW shops I've encountered only ever sold BMWs.

    The Older Gentleman says...
They'll sell anything. It's true they are under constant pressure from
the boxheads to stock only used and new BMW, but only a handful take any
    notice.
