  1. If you're fed up with oil flinging off your scotoiled chain what's the
    next best thing? Wax?

    Setting it up right?

I've got a Loobtronic or summat, and fling is not an issue with motrax oil.
    Chain is nicely lubed, though.

I used to have an XJ900 shafty and loved it. Why do all bikes not have
shafts? Is it too heavy or does it eat into the bhp?

    says...
Husqvarna chainsaw oil in the Scottoiler, that's what I use. It's
heavier and doesn't fling anywhere near as much. All chain lube will end
up on the back wheel, it's just a case of minimising it.

I find it amazing that anyone would want/buy a bike that uses a chain.

    Reasons:
    Manufacturing cost (apparently)
Weight (what about a belt, must be lighter than a chain)
    Power loss (apparently)

How much money do the bike manufacturers make selling new chains and
    sprockets?

    Tina Alice says...
    Shafts cost more to make.
Unreliable and unable to deal with high power
Negligible compared to a shaft drive.
Almost none, bike manufacturers rarely sell genuine chain and sprocket
kits. They are a huge part of the aftermarket business though.

Shaft drive has too many disadvantages to make it worthwhile for me, and
I don't smell of wee so I'm not allowed one anyway.
