They've also got a rather good reputation over on de.rec.motorrad (the
    German equivalent of ukrm).

Are there German equivalents of TOG and Bear on there?

They sound the same as the ones I've seen

Its a little known fact that big chunky zips aren't as strong as
little toothed nylon zips, YKK make the best zips IMHO but they are
    often copied

Oh puh-leese! Like we're going to be swayed by the opinion of a gold
    be-tapped[1] ex-pat arriviste UST[2] like Ace?

    [1] be-gold tapped? I dunno...
[2] Can you be a UST and an arriviste? I dunno...

Because the cunts insist on leaving their towels on every fucking thread
overnight. You can't get a word in edgeways.

    BigJ says...
Absolutely correct. When I was trimming cars I used brass and plastic
zips of chunky and fine designs, I always found fine toothed plastic
YKK ones to be the strongest of the lot.

My former boss was German, but raised in .ch from childhood. He
got a postdoc position in Stuttgart and used to still be in the office at
night when the Schwabish cleaning lady came around. He had great
difficulty understanding her. One night after several "Wie bitte?"s she
rounded on him, "Bist Du ni' Deutsch?"

AFAIK we did a couple of times - it probably was TOG crossposting stuff
    again.

IIRC we've even got some kind of an open invitation to the big yearly party
they organise - the "Megafete", usually held somewhere in Austria. I'd have
to check Google Groups to see if that's my memory playing up, though...

Not really, unfortunately. There are a couple of characters on there but I
dare say our little asylum here has a far superior collection.

There is, however, a clone of Lozzo's Anti-BMW stance over there - some
bloke has been repeatedly posting complaints about the new BMW ABS and its
    problems over there.

Quite. If I thought people would buy stuff on my recommendation I'd
pick on something a bit more close to the potential market.

I've missed them (and I haven't been around all that log either).
I remember one with the Spaniards.
