Which is probably why they don't teach any driver education/road awareness in
    school.

I have the same issue with speed cameras - when i'm around one i tend to
end up concentrating more on my speed than what's going on around me.
I'm sure this happens to a lot of people.

Gee, Ben, I hope you read requirements specs better than you read usenet.

You shouln't rely too much on Daryl's speculation. It's less than a
year since I saw a Copper do the braking distance demo to a group that
    included kids.

They *do* teach driver ed and road safety in schools.

Maybe you just didn't know about it because the doof doof music from
your wanky sound system is messing with your mind.

I read that they don't do driver ed in schools anymore. Obviously that's not the
case everywhere so I retract my comments.
My wanky sound system is the lowest powered stuff I could find to achieve much
clearer audio - it's not about volume. So GAGF. :)

Probably? Pfftt. Much greater likelihood of injury during PE classes
or a game of footy at lunchtime and have they banned them? Far more
likely that it's not seen as a valid part of the curriculum, and nor is
it. You only need to read some of the dribble that people post in
these groups to see that they need more money spent on reading, spelling
    and comprehension than driver education.

I think it's more likely that they might think they'd get sued if someone got
injured while driving, or just ccrossing the road, an tried to blame it on
something they were taught incorrectly in the driver/road safety class in school.

My point is invalid anyway as someone else pointed out that there is
driver-ed/road safety taught in some schools.

Do you even read all the posts in these threads or do you just come in
    just to make yourself noticed?
Many secondary schools here in melb teach driver ed at year 10.
The program is slowly going to be expanded as funding is being finalised.

If the speed limit was 60, and you dropped down to 45 before getting
close to the camera, would you find it hard to keep your speed below 60
without staring at the speedo all the time?

Or is keeping it dead on 60 that is causing the problem?

So you're still arguing the point, and at the same time pointing out
that you're wrong. This is why I say we need to spend more on English
comprehension and less on road safety in schools.
