  1. This is at the moment a hate of mine. I draw out cash on my UK card
from a machine in Cyprus and the money leaves my UK account
immediately. However, transfer money from the UK account to my Cyprus
account and not only does it disappear into a black hole for 5 days
but I get charged £30 for the privilege leaving the UK and another
    5CYP on arrival.

That's a bit ouch - sir may want to look into accounts that allow for
    cheaper transfers...

    Capitalist pigs!

Obviously they could do the transfer immediately, and not make
any interest on it, but then I doubt they would offer 'free'
    banking.

FWIW, I'd rather they did that and charged on a per transaction
    basis.

  8. That' a plan, of course now the vast majority of what I needed to move
has gone but I guess it will still be a couple of K a year. IIRC
nationwide were cheaper, of course there's a chance they'll get their
money in some other way. BTW it's IF that charge £30 a go.

  9. Bit of a problem if one needs the cash quickly. When I need to move
money to Spain, it takes a week. This can be a problem, as I only keep a
    small amount here.

Smile and Co-Op (same bank really, but two different levels of
accounts) worked out cheapest for me.

Plus, with smile you get a decent interest rate on the current account
    as well.
