SBK Superbike 1st times r in....

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by TerracottaWarrior®, Feb 27, 2004.

  1. Ducati as expected first (to 6th) but the Foggy is less than 1 sec off the
pace, and the back-door-factory Jappers are not to far off the pace.

Plenty of Aussies in the field

Same tyres and rule book for all

Expect Corser to " go animal" on the 1 lap bansai lap....

The Ducati for mine is NOT fast enough, are they sandbagging?

But can he last a whole race?

Yep, after 25 laps he'll only be 20 seconds off the leaders....1 second a
lap is slow. Lets see if he can improve.

    Uhuh
"and set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap"

    according to
    http://www.mcnews.com.au

Tough audience - his first race on a new bike, the exact opposite of everything
he's been riding for about 8 years, he finishes the race outside the top 3
(won't be more specific than that even though I've put spoiler in the header)
and you're panning him ? Sounds like a pretty decent result to me, martin was
    unlucky though.

(didn't see the race don't have foxtel, getting tempted now that there's no free
    to air)

I wasn't panning him, I was just saying that at 1 sec off the pace, he'll be
at least 23 seconds behind at the end of the race. To compete you really
    have to be poofteenths off.
hope it improves soon, unlike Biggus, I like gaz

I'd reckon he's still finding his feet - if he set the fastest lap of the 1st
race then he's a fighting chance to be competitive 2nd race*.

Gotta be careful about the difference at Superpole time vs the difference in a
race - the race times require consistency, not just one good lap, although now
it's control tyres one of the factory team advantages has diminished (qualifying
tyres being better for the factory teams)

*(hope so anyway, used to love watching the red bull yammie backing into
    corners)

Realy; the first race can't be considered much of an indicator for the
season (except that Laconi crashed twice!) with it's wet/dry
    intermediate/wets changes.
Lets see if race two is fully dry and how everyone goes....

After the results of the second I'd say it looks a pretty good season in the
Ducati cup (although the pesky honda and petronas' might pick up a few podiums)
