Been sent a link ending in a .wvx

How do I save the target?

I don't want to make a page to do that. I want to save the .wmv file that
the .wvx file points to. But I don't seem to be able to.

 

I think you want Streambox VCR:

You might well have to 'reverse engineer' the URL to get a page where
you can save target as you normally would

Failing that there is a *nix untility IIRC called wget that will grab
it for you and save it. It's intended for offline browsing, but I
can't see any reason why it won't work for this. There's prolly a
windows version as well
