  3. Not with me it isn't.

In fact, with WW1, I doubt it ever will. With WW2, you have a point.

  4. And don't ever discount the materiel sent by the Allies. Russia wouldn't
have produced any more aircraft post-1941 if it hadn't been for American
    aluminium.

Of course, the Soviets never mentioned Allied aid after the war.

Meanwhile - down on the ranch - Tonto while disguised as a door, had
    his knob shot off.

That's the place name. That's what it's got on every lyrics site I've
    looked at.

I've just played the mp3 a few times, and there is quite a long bit
after it, though, including your bit. Gawd knows what that's there
    for.

  11. Mining bauxite is one thing. Producing aircraft-grade aluminium is quite
    another.

I mean, Soviet Russia had more arable acreage than anywhere else on the
planet, but still couldn't produce enough food.....

When I was about 14, I used to wander down the station [0] at
lunchtime with a couple of my mates and sit at the end of the
platform. We'd hear the rails sing ages before the train came into
    view.

We also used to do that thing of putting one and two pence pieces on
the rail, and the train wheels would flatten and bash them out of
    shape.

Come on, you must have done that? It was doubly exciting in the south
    because the rails where electrified.

All right, yes, on the K&ESR in the summer of 1977 (I was laying track
and building Wittersham Road station at the time).
