Feb is the bad one for me. I've got a week in Lanzarote booked for
then, so that's something to cheer me up - isn't it?
It's somewhat ironic to see how many Scandinavians got wiped out by
    the Tsunami.

Well, that's you taken long enough to discover that little gem, that
    was released last Monday.

I find January 24th quite good actually, 'cos I'll be 30 + 11 then. Of
course, I *had* to be born after Xmas and before payday, and they all
expect fucking cream cakes in the office, don't they.

Yeah, well you didn't tell me - did you.
That's probably the last thing they really want after Christmas. Take
in a pot of leek and broccoli soup.

Hmm..we are short of leeks in work atm and the broccoli is out at a
    store elsewhere in the country.

But it's a nice thought anyway, and in fact I may try to do one later
in the week...sadly with shop-bought items.

Have you never worked in an office? Why keep track of everyone else's
birthday, when everyone can keep track of their own.

It all works out evens in the long run. Sod the cream cakes though, it
was donuts for my lot on Friday.

  8. Happy birthday to Lesley.
It doesn't work like that I'm afraid. Office tradition and all that.

Still I have the advantage of a birthday that means I am never at work
and by the time people get back to work they never remember it so no
    cakes.

Hmm, not working in one regular office all the time I've never really
experienced this... I've seen people with cakes on their desk but didn't
realise it was always the done thing.

I think I'll stick with my pint at lunchtime approach to birthdays.

it does appear to be the "done thing", in every place I've ever worked.
one of my (rather highly paid) contractors had a birthday in December.
He /volunteered/ to put his credit card behind the bar, and paid for 2
hours of drinking by 10-11 people. Definitely better than a cream cake
    or donut.
