As a father's day *treat* SWMBO dragged me (under some protest) along to
the Civic Hall this evening to see the Ken Dodd 'Happiness Show'.

Sad old git that I am I sat through all 5 1/2 hours of it. You have to
admire his stamina if nothing else.

Even sadder is that at times I found myself roaring with laughter.

Nope - Dodd is renowned in the business for playing THE longest shows on the
    circuit.

  6. I remember him giving an after-lunch speech, and he went on for 90
minutes. He's well-known for over-running, especially if he has a good
    audience.

    You get yer money's worf.

And yes, he is howlingly funny, live.

Better than sitting through a Wagner opera?
I hope you weren't disappointed to get 'Happiness Show' instead of a penis show.

You're thinking of Rod Hull, methinks.

Of course he is - their acts were *so* similar, after all.

He was (supposedly) so ill that he couldn't attend court over his tax
dodging (IIRC) and he was reported to be suffering from some metal illness,
but he seems to have recovered remarkably well.
