Difficult to form any opinion, impartial or not, when the key evidence is
    being withheld though eh?

  2. I'd expect their use of ammo to be more effective.

One of the victims was an Israeli Holocaust survivor who headed the
engineering and science department, but I would not expect that to move
    you..

  5. What Israeli holocaust? A few home made rockets fired over the border
by Hammas militants hardly counts as a holocaust, or are you referring
to their over the top retaliation against civilian targets in Southern
Lebanon last year? Which, while quite destructive, was nowhere as the
firestorm brought upon Dresden by Allied bombers during the last World
War. Now there was a holocaust worthy of the name.

I bet your heart bleeds over all the people round the world your
government has topped. Isn't the daily death by gun toll something like
    80 in the USA?

Does this make the shooter another "hero"?

Am I right in thinking that all Swiss men over 18 are in the army
reserves and keep thier assault rifles at home? Was the case 30 yrs
ago at any rate... I suspect that burglary is relatively rare in
    Switzerland...

Most Iraqi soldiers kept their guns too. Remind me how that panned out?

It's not changed, but to clarify, there's no 'reserve' such as you
speak of - all men of age are active members of the regular army until
they've completed their service, which I think is a total of 52 weeks
after initial training, normally done as one or two weeks a year.
It may be, like most crime, but to somehow link that with the presence
of weapons in many households is a nonsense, predicated as it is on
the american idea that it would be acceptable for the householder to
shoot an intruder. The Swiss aren't allowed to, particularly not with
their military-issue weapons. And, although ICBW, it's my belief that
they don't keep live ammo at home anyway.
