Why doesn't this kind of thing happen in countries like Switzerland
    where guns are nearly compulsory?
Wow, that's more people than live in my village!

    God yes.
Gun crime is certainly said to be very low here, but TBH I think it's
more symptomatic of a stable affluent society than any specific
    gun-related thinking.

Although the fact that all Swiss males have been trained in firearms
use might have some bearing on this, I suppose.

They do actually, sometimes. They're generally a bit less indiscriminate,
although there was a mass shooting incident in the Zug cantonal parliament
a few years ago. But apparently quite a lot of domestic incidents involve
shooting with military weapons - enough that there have been suggestions to
end the practice of keeping them at home. I saw an article about this in Le
    Temps a few days ago.

Indeed. A mere flash in the pan.

Of course, you too have yet to demonstrate that your special powers are

You may think that, but you're forgetting that with great power comes
    great responsibility.

If I used my powers indescriminately the internet would be full of nude
photos and pornography before you knew it.

    Ooops.

Well what it says to me is that they had a problem - none of the other
    students was armed.
I expect they had a no firearms policy on campus. That's fair enough but in
a gun owning society it should have been replaced with armed private
    security guards.

Unlike Dunblane in the UK your NRA will ensure you don't all lose your
    firearms licences.

Despite what you might think from reading here, firearms ownership is rife
in the UK. Of course it's the crims that own them. On the up side, they
mostly shoot each other, which is good.

WTF have civilian coroners to do with a military situation in a war zone?
that's the real question. The answer is SFA.

I beg to disagree. The population is about twice what it needs to be.
Obviously it's "them" that need to die.

    situation.
