Well well, I never expected Stoner to be so fast there, this is the
slowest track on the calendar and he is the fastest man of the day,
blitzing them all in FP1 and 0.35 secs ahead of Rossi in FP2. He
really has got that Duc working well, yet again he proves it's not
just the power and top speed thats making him look so good. Of course
whether the bike combo has the endurance during the race remains to be
seen but he is certainly off to a good start.

Not so good is Hayden who was only 17th fastest during FP2 and failed
to improve on his FP1 time, don't know whats going on there, he likes
the track and the bike seemed to be working for him prior to this
    meeting.

At this stage there doesn't seem to be any apparent tyre advantage
either with all 3 manufacturers in the top 5 (yep Dunlop 4th fastest).

    Paul.

Must have had "an electrical problem". (At one time Honda's answer any
    time an engine broke ;)

Julian Bond has better teevee coverage than me:
I gotta go to Donington next year. I'd pay for that.

    Go fast. Take chances.

Without Casey, Ducati couldn't even get on the podium :)

  7. So even Nicky couldn't get on the podium with the Ducati? Is that what
    you're trying to say?

You say "reduction in riding talent", but look where those previous
riders are finishing now on other makes.

    1. Casey STONER (Ducati), Bridgestone, 1:22.384
    2. Dani PEDROSA (Honda), Michelin, 1:22.388
    5. John HOPKINS (Suzuki), Bridgestone, 1:22.561
    10. Shinya NAKANO (Honda), Michelin, 1:22.969
    16. Alex HOFMANN (Ducati), Bridgestone, 1:23.199

Can't really blame the bikes for 10th and 16th. That's in the same
ballpark they were running on the Kawi. Can't wait to see how Hopkins
does on it. There have also been hints of hiring a "proven MotoGP
race winner" to team up with him. That could be good or bad. There
are some previous winners out there that would be hard pressed to win
again on any bike. They could make the Kawi look worse than it is.

    Honda 1st and 3rd. GOLD :)

Also, the so-called "greatest of all time" seems to have trouble staying on
his bike of late. I'm sure there'll be some excuse...

I think tires played a big role for sure. Dani ran great, but had the
Bstones held up, I think the results would be a bit different. I think he
would have at least been on the podium. Maybe not made up Pedrosa's gap,
but not been passed so easily by Capirossi, Hayden, Edwards.

Wrong side of the country, and I'd be supporting Stoner and vermeulen,
or as 2nd choice, Pedrosa or Hayden

Yeah, he's a bit of a dick. At Fontana he was parading his new
girlfriend, who looked like a teenage callgirl, around the pits, but
was hardly acknowledging her, walking around ten feet in front of her,
etc. He was pompous even back in his AMA days, by my read. To some
extent I excuse a bit of it as a guy who's had to work his way up
through less-than-ideal circumstances, no silver-spoon boy, but only a
    bit.

    But I like Edwards
....which I've found a bit embarrassing at times, although I like his
    frankness...

and his incredible fight back against Bayliss to
That's what really changed my attitude about him, he struck me as a
guy who was more focused and hard-working than I'd given him credit
for being. And his entry into GP created a little sympathy as well,
although some of that was his choice.
Are you kidding? When it comes to the 'dogs, I'm the Pillsbury fookin'
    Doughboy!

I've never been all that hot on the naturally-gifted guys, preferring
the guys who have really worked for it, sufficient talent but really
thinking-man's racers, Lawson being the prototype. Wasn't a big
Schwantz guy until '03, and never have liked Rozssi that much. Gobert
wasa bit different, I kind of liked his irreverance some, but too bad
he ultimately wasted all that talent. But when he was on, he was a
sight to see. I remember him holding off Hayden over the last few laps
in SB at Sears in 2001, he'd won the SS race earlier that day, very
warm day, and after he was slumped in a chair in the pits with one of
his crew holding an ice pack on his neck, covered in sweat and red-
faced, looking like he'd pass out any second - even if part of it was
lack of conditioning, you could tell he'd left it all out on the
    track...

Trust me, there was nothin' hotter there that day! I've got a nice
video clip of the breeze lifting her dress and revealing the sweetest
    little...

    ....gotta go now...
