Ruislip to Central London - commute times?

I am returning from OZ to work in the city and will probably live in
Ruislip. Does anyone have an idea of the average commute time from
Ruislip to Central London via the A40 leaving between 07:00 and 08:00
weekdays? I am an average rider and would like to stay in one piece so
    try and be realistic.

    Thanks.

    Patrick.

The A40's not too bad in the morning, actually, and I reckon the OP would be
at Shepherd's Bush within 20 minutes. The last bit's the fucker - nose to
tail traffic and solid motorway-style filtering[1] for 3 miles until
Marylebone Road starts, then random-taxi-and-van craziness up Marylebone Road
    itself

[1] which wouldn't be so bad, but the regulars get a bit tetchy if you're not
    filtering at > 50mph

I see. Not Harley country then but nothing a 750 can't handle.
    Thanks for the info.

Indeed. It can take an age getting through the Marylebone Road because its
three lanes with **** all gap between the lanes to filter through. Oh, and
the ongoing roadworks outside ST Pancras don't help.

Well, I live in Ruislip and have commuted into town for the past 5 years or
so, so can actually speak with some knowledge :)

As others have said, you should be at Shpes bush within the half hour mark,
and I reckon even if youre heading into the Finance district proper, it
should only be around the hour mark.

The advantage of the A40 is that is is very predictable. Chances are that
once youre comfortable with the route, youll find that your trip time rarely
varies by more than 5 minutes or so.

Although if I were working somewhere near a Central line station, I would be
tempted by the tube option, it must be said. Youre going to get a seat in
the AM for sure..But then Ive found that I got far more ill when being a
tube commuter than I do on the bike.

Say hello when you arrive, though what the **** youre doing leaving
Australia to come to ruislip, I have no fucking idea. But thats exactly
what our next door neighbour did as well. Reckon youre both bonkers.

It's actually not too bad on the CCM, but it's purgatory on the Mille,
and probably the same on many sportsbikes.

****) Whereabouts in Oz are you from?
In your dreams. Aussie dominance is over. We might let you win
the odd footie friendly though )

It's the only way they'll get to play as neither are going to be in the
    final.

Too true. I predict a dodgy group result against a "minor" team,
followed by us just scraping through to the knockout stage, beating
a scandinavian team 2-0 or 3-0 in the first knockout round before being

comprehesively outplayed[1] and beaten in the next game.

    [1] Due to negative tactics.

heh. It was only a matter of time....

Of course, the answer is tens (if not hundreds) of millions of people,
    worldwide, so :eek:p

Including me, Adie, Blaney, Cane and a few others.

  16. 750's a waste of time on a commute like that. You might as well use a
    125.

Best thing would be a small dirt bike.
