  1. CCS for one. Poke around on their website. Liquid cooled: Inline4 up
to 640cc, v-twin up to 800cc and curiously inline triples up to
    980ccs!
Not at all. They've been brushing the $8k with rare exceptions. Now
almost all have gone into the $8300 territory and it seems will likely
go higher as better spec gear is screwed on.
Bigger motors with longer strokes get better efficiency than smaller
higher revving monsters with ridiculously short strokes. With EFI the
larger motors can effectively squirt much less fuel at cruise since it
has more time to expand in the chamber vs. the higher piston speeds of
    a 600.

I thought Jody stacked that bike up a couple of years ago... Is it still
    alive?

  3. Jody stacked his 929 at Thunderhill over taking a R1 at a buck 40... the
race VFR is on hold for engine funds...

  4. Matt Maladin dropped a full second off his lap time testing the MotoGp
V4 against his own AMA I4 Superbike...

Power to weight is not the issue... getting a user friendly powerband
is... current I4 trend is for higher and higher peak power at the
expense of wide power... a sharp nervous power band is difficult to
control whereas the V4's wide power band is easy to go quick on...
Although your mind may get the full meaning of my text only a ride will
convince the seat of your pants that a 360 degree V4's power
    characteristic is superior...

Why??? Motorcycles are a odd mix of tradition and cutting edge
technology... move to fast to the pulse of the market place and you risk
failure... take disc brakes... first tired then dropped as too expensive
despite a great improvement over drums... now you see disc as the
norm... all it took was one other manufacture to employ them in
    production... Honda's 69 CB750...

Same goes for the V4 engine architect... first tried then dropped as too
expensive despite a great improvement over I4's... all it will take is
for one other manufacture to draft one for production... Ducati's V4...

I predict after the magazine testers get done with Ducati's 999 V4
you'll hear the giant sucking sound of people switching their riding
    plans...

My 1989 EX 500 got about 50-55 mpg, while my 1988 Ninja 600R got about
45-50 mpg commuting. My 1994 K75S got about 45 mpg, while the 1150 RS
    gets a disappointing 43.

When using Oregon gas, I got over 50 mpg. Then again, I was riding more
conservatively than usual. I still haven't matched that since, either.

The (2001) Sprint ST and the 1988 600R Ninja both get 45MPG when I
drive highway (at not entirely unreasonable speeds).

But for 3+ years, I was getting 35 MPG on the ninja doing a 6 mile
work commute. The Sprint gets worse doing that commute still. More
to do with being cold and Fuel Injection, I presume.

So, got a spare ass panel for that '88 Ninja? Bike got bumped a while
ago into a gar 1' behind it and the nubs that hold it onto the bike
are gone. I'm getting embarrassed about the bungy net holding it on.
