He's alluding to the superfluous adjective.

    From Chambers:
consensus, noun, *general* feeling or agreement

Given how widely publicised the original was, I took it to be a royalty-
themed homage rather than simply nicked.

Either way it was a bit wank.

I was just being pedantic. As you say, there's a first time for
    everything..

    Same here.

11 days off - just 3 days holiday taken.
Apparently there's something organised for the park at the end of the
street - but we plan to take a bike or the homwheels out for the day.

Not in the World of contracting. When everyone else takes a long break
they want essential maintenance doing while they're off so some of us
    are having to work.

Try Germany. It's all over the place (at least in the gutter press
    billboards in Dusseldorf)
Do you really feel this way? I can't understand why anyone who I'd
class as 'sane' would seriously wish that the royal family were
    executed.

Personally I don't give a stuff about the royal wedding/family but
given a choice between a royal family and a president I'll go with the
family. Grudgingly. And they're welcome to the two quid a year or
whatever it is they cost me, I'm sure it's significantly less than the
    cabinet.

I'm taking the kids to Port Madoc to play on the Welsh Highland Railway.
I'm hoping that most of the population will be watching the wedding so
allowing me a clear run. Certainly worked when it was Di's funeral.

Had a great day at Alton Towers on the day Di was buried. They opened the
rides late morning but there were zero queues even on the recently opened
    Nemesis.

  12. An accident of birth gave you more intelligence than most and allowed
you to make a better living than most.

And if you want to remove the royal family because of inherited
privillege being wrong then where do you stop?

    - Stop anyone inheriting anything?
    - Stop people using influence to get their children a better start in
life (e.g. getting internships, getting job interviews)
    - Stop private education (I guess you'll say of course)
    - Stop paid tutoring in the evenings
    - Stop parents helping children with studies because it's not fair if
    this doesn't happen for everyone.

    etc. etc. etc.
Add to the cabinet salaries the cost of running their offices and it's
    going to be more.
Well, the duties as monarch would fall on the president in any case if
    we abolished the royal family.

Whatever it costs I frankly don't give a ****. The status quo suits me
well enough- the last government fucked up enough with the changes to
the commons (hours of attendance, turning all MPs into 'professionals')
and the half-arsed fucking around with the Lords.

  13. Hmm. Well, you may have a point there. Damn it.

Well, I don't. And it's more to do with what I plan to leave rather
than what I hope to inherit.
Not so sure about this. Internships?

Well, I suppose it's churlish to argue with this point. However I just
can't bring myself to give a damn about it when there are so many other
things of much more importance and significance to the vast majority.

Make sure they don't get off the tracks before you complete your run, or
you've wasted a day. And ffs, make sure there aren't any CCTV cams knocking
    about.

  18. Fair enough.

My response to "what will you do during the royal wedding" is "probably
the same as when his father (Charles is this one's father, right?) got
    married".

Actually I won't do exactly the same. I'll probably be pissing around
on a sports bike or a dirt bike (vs a Suzuki T250[1]). I won't however
be an unwitting accomplice in a post office robbery (which never quite
    happened).

[1] Why didn't I ever take pictures of my bikes? Or, come to that
    anything.

Perhaps this is something you could address, rather than arguing their
