Mine (D-Link DSL-G604T) keeps "forgetting" my broadband set-up
    details.

About every two weeks or so.

Only since moving to Idnet - never did it with Pipex.

Occasionally whilst in the middle of doing something.

Is it because it is shite, or some other reason?

Reflash the latest firmware. If it keeps happening then yes, goosed.
Sometime a dodgy power brick can be spiking and flushing the ROM.

It doesn't happen to mine. It's probably a fault with your router. Try
doing a factory reset and then redoing your settings.
    Yes.

Sounds like you are forgetting to hit the "Save all" option after you
    have fixed the settings.

  5. It happened to mine once (in the midst of over a year of working
perfectly). It was just the ADSL password that became munged. I phoned
my ISP, all high and mighty, to complain that my ADSL had been down
    most of the day.

ISP: "Have you checked your password is entered correctly?".

Me: "It's not that. The router hasn't been touched for several months -
nobody else has the password other than me and all the settings are
    fine."

ISP: "Can you just re-enter it. Our servers are claiming the supplied
    password is invalid."

Me: <with a resigned sigh at having to jump through hoops before they
get the bottom of the actual problem> "OK, if I must. Hang on..."

Me, 60 seconds later: "Ah. Ummm... it's connected now. Err... sorry
about that...". Much embarrassment, etc. etc.

I then had the revelation that it's probably people like me who make
tech support such an unpleasant job to be in sometimes.

Not really related to this, but IDNet do a useful RSS feed with daily
and cumulative bandwidth usage and service announcements (such as BT
    work, planned and otherwise).

Yes, it sounds like it, but that's not what's happening.

If I go in and check now, it's all tickety-boo, but some time in the
    future, it will all vanish.

They also email you re: bandwidth if you download "The Blue Planet"
(>9GB) in the first two days of the month, wrt monthly limits. :)

I like Virgin. I've just downloaded seven series of Buffy The Vampire
Slayer, at 8.5Gb per series and they didn't even bat an eyelid. All
they do is throttle the speed down a bit in the evenings.

    Don't be stupid.
Well, as soft porn goes, they're really not up to much. I assume that
the female in question is one of the stars of Buffy, but fail to see
why anyone would want to wank off to pictures of her rather than
proper porn just because she's on TV.

<shrug> I have different tastes, that doesn't make me stupid.

What is it with you and Champ lately? Any deviation from your views
results in 'stupid'. 'barking' etc. I'm glad I'm not as narrow minded
and judgemental as the pair of you.
