    Guys

Whaddaya reckon a 1969 Triumph Tiger 750 is worth (year could be wrong
I forgot to ask) ? It's unit construction (apparently that matters),
has the single front disc and wire wheels (19" front/18 rear).

Just looking for a ball park. I know it's a how long is a piece of
    string question.

Paint is ordinary (faded in parts) was resprayed about 10-15 years ago.
Running, registered, no known issues. Not in pristine original spec -
it's been modified but not wildly (risers on the bars, a low sissy bar,
    smaller diameter headlight, blinkers removed).

It's the old man's bike, I want to give him a fair price for it, but
I'm not paying stupid money either (I ain't that sentimental). He's
ridden it twice in the last year so

    JL
(I told him I had to offer threefiddyandakickindanutz but he just
    looked at me blankly ;-)

how about applying to the local trumpy society they will tell you quick
    enough

does it have oil in it ;)
    double half its length
the less parts it has missing the more its worth
    chrome condition is another thing
always ask the seller what they think its worth and go from there ;)
he had the opportunity to give it to you for christmas ;)
    lol

  4. The further removed from "stock" the lower the value I could be wrong but I
    don't think a 69 would have
come with a disc front end, it'd be better to ride but probably not "stock"
I'd offer $3,500 and be prepared to go to mabey $4,500
In very good ( bloody beautiful ) cond. it might be worth $8,000 or more but
it costs plenty to get em there

    "Quick enough"?

I'm not sure I have time for the "back when I was your age I rode
around Australia before breakfast and the roads weren't bitumen like
you poofy young blokes demand now, it was all dirt roads if you were
lucky" stories before umming and ahhing and telling me they couldn't
    possibly hazard a guess(1).

I did try to ring Eade's but he's closed until the 15th
He thinks it's worth 8K, he's had an offer for 6K which I don't think
had any money behind it, I told him I thought 6 was about fair but I'd
go and find out what the market price was. A quick look on
bikesales.com.au seems to confirm the boxer/capt. lunchtime ball park -
    it's worth about $5 to 5.5K going by what's advertised for 7.5 to 8
(assuming a few hundred can be shaved off the advertised)
Yeah, right no chance ! He's tried to sell it to me every Xmas for the
last 5 years. I'm starting to weaken, he doesn't really want it to go
outside the family but he rarely rides anymore.

I think the front disc is stock (but it's by no means certain, my uncle
had more wrecked trumpies than you can poke a stick at so he could well
have given him a newer front end for it when he gave it to him as a
basket case to restore). Could be early 70's though, I've forgotten
what year it was. I should know, I babysat it for a couple of years.
It's definitely not in "bloody beautiful"nick, its a decent runner
    only.

    Thanks for that.

You could try John at MotoCiclio 9557 7234. He's been into Brit bikes for
years, he might have some idea.

How many carbs does it have? Bonneville has 2 Trophy has 1.
    I don`t think there is such a thing as a 69 750 Tiger - definately not with
    a disc.
    If it`s a bonney, might be worth more - if it`s a trophy and it`s rough, 2 -
    3 grand max

It's definitely a Tiger and definitely a 750. The year is probably the
incorrect piece of info (I did say I wasn't sure if that was correct).
Can't guarantee the front disc is original though. Don't recall how
many carbs to be honest. Oh bugger it, I'll ring the old fart and check
    the correct details

OK, it's 1973 Tiger 750, single carb, and the single disc is supposedly
    correct.

Thanks Zebee, he was very helpful, and yeah he said somewhere between
3500 (would be a bargain) and 6500 (pushing towards top dollar given I
    described it as "fair")

I think late 69 they got disks or maybe 70 . are you sure the disk was
    from new ?

    *hmmm*

I'd say if it's registered and running ok and mostly complete but not
stock then it's worth at least $4000 (roughish) and if it's mostly stock
and clean and tidy then probably $6000 (roughish).

I wouldn't pay more than that, but concourse example fetch more...

I've always had a soft spot for the single carb Tigers (even though I
had a twin carb bonnie), they are just nicer to ride somehow...

  19. The year is wrong as the 750 motor TR7 didn't come out till late 1970's
It could be a Bonneville if it is a twin cylinder
Trident if it is a 3 cylinder

? It's unit construction (apparently that matters),

the pre unit construction is older
The price has just plummeted to about $1500 sight unseen
If you are feeling in the Xmas mood and very generous then $2500 tops
then again, it is worth only what you are prepared to pay for it
Even so, he is not that sentimental and would be considered a fool to even
    contemplate selling it
Just because he has only ridden it twice in a year, doesn't mean that he
wants to get rid of it

The tiger was out before I left Unzud in 1972 , I owned one along with a
couple of tridents and several bonnies , some of which were 729 cc tins .I suspect the 1972 is accurate
