    Anyone know anything about Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40?? I think I am going
    to put it in my little Ninja 250. The bike has 5700 miles on it now and I
    was told that was about the right mileage to switch to synthetic. Any
    thoughts from you professionals??

    I thought they made stewed tomatoes. It would be hell on the motor, but the
    exhaust would remind me of mom's home cooking.

    I don't know why someone would want a serious answer instead of a
    wised-assed one, but here goes.

    I've never used Rotella oil. Seriously.

    But I've been using synth in the crankcase, primary, and trans for the last
    50k without a problem.

    Seriously.. if you'd ride the damned thing instead of wiping on it, you
    might have noticed all the ill effects of that make believe motor oil.. The
    Green Vulcan is the perfect example of care, maintenance and proper use.. It
    is my own committment to immaculate perfection that causes me to make these
    contributions on usenet.. Trust me.. LMAO.. Regards

    ~~~Brian offers this) Isn't Rotella T Synthetic a cooking oil?
    Sounds quite a bit like what would go with Prego sauce.... :)
    I ask about it because there are several people I know that put it in there
    motorcycles. One of them suggested to me that I do the same since my bike
    now has almost 6000 miles on it. I didnt know if any of you here on usenet
    had any dealing with this oil and what was though of it. Seems to be some
    pretty good stuff. I have always bought Kawasaki oil up until now and I have
    always used Yamahas oil in my 650.
    ROTELLA® T Synthetic:
    a.. Meets engine warranty requirements to the maximum allowable drain by
    the OEM
    b.. Provides outstanding wear protection
    c.. Withstands extreme heat
    d.. Provides superb soot handling
    e.. Enhances cold-temperature starting
    f.. Has low volatility
    g.. Offers superior oxidation stability
    h.. Improves fuel economy, up to 3%
    i.. Lowers oil consumption
    Product benefits and technology
    Shell ROTELLA® T Synthetic 5W-40 is a fully synthetic, heavy-duty engine
    oil. It combines outstanding cold-temperature starting and advanced
    soot-handling capacity. It helps prolong engine life, even in extreme
    conditions. The proprietary Shell formulation meets virtually every advanced
    OEM specification. Because it uses the Shell synthetic base oil technology,
    ROTELLA® T Synthetic is more fluid than conventional oils under cold start
    conditions, which means better circulation, less wear on start-up, and
    easier starting throughout the service period, with little to no viscosity
    breakdown.
    Superb soot handling
    Stricter emission requirements and engine design changes have led to more
    soot going into the oil in today's high-technology engines. Rotella® T
    Synthetic provides excellent protection against engine wear and viscosity
    thickening due to soot.
    Albert,
    Never heard of that oil but I did look it up and found several sights with
    information on it. Looks to be some good stuff. I will buy some and try it
    on my next oil change. I am a member of a webforumn that deals with nothing
    but those Kawasaki Ninja 250's and the Rotella T is the oil that they
    recommend when those bikes hit about 6000 miles. I did notice after reading
    up on the Rotella T that it wasnt a motorcycle oil and that had me
    concerned. I will give the Motul a try and maybe suggest it to the others on
    that 250 web forumn. Thanks for the info.
    I used Mobil 1 V-Twin at my last change. I've had good luck with it in my
    V-Star 650. I got it @ Wal-Mart.
    Anyone know anything about Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40?? <<
    I use Rotella dino oil that I change every 3k miles (vs. the 8k mile
    recommended change interval for my bike). I've seen several articles that
    recommend it (and it's synthetic brother mentioned above) for motorcycles. I
    prefer the non-synthetic because of it's viscosity range (15w-40w) which
    fits the Honda recommended range for our climate. I also like it because
    it's easier to find out on the road than some of the motorcycle specific
    oils such as Mobil-1 MX4T.
    Here's one of the articles that recommends Rotella among others:
    Good article. I didnt even see that one when I was checking that oil
    out. I went ahead and put it in my V-Star when I changed its oil last
    Saturday.
