I'm in the stages of restoring a 1974 Kawasaki KX125 (rotary disk
valved 2 stroke) based road racer.
It used to run with its 34mm Mikuni carby poking out a hole cut in the
right hand side of a TZ250 fairing. The carb was covered by a 3" strip
of aluminium riveted to the fairing front & back so that it bowed out
around the mouth of the carby. The airflow was above & below the carby
    mouth.
I'm wondering whether I'd be better off with the carb in some sort of
    "still air" box?

  2. I'd imagine so. Airflow across an aperture will almost certainly
be detrimental to airflow into the aperture, due to the Bernoulli effect.
One could imagine a still-air box fed from a ram-air duct in the nose of
    the fairing, if there's space.

    Dear Dr. Reid,

You may even remember this motorcycle - built up by Kevin Cass, 125 GP
racer of 60's from Wollongong. He built this particular motorcycle for
the late Dave Burgess, who raced it with some success in Australia in
1975. It was then sold to Fraser Stronach, then Trevor Liversidge then I
did a dodgey deal & inherited it somewhere along the line. At one stage
I had twin carbies on it, with the addition of a reed valve to the the
    back of the cylinder.

    Thanks for your input.
    Cheers,
    Bernie

  4. I remember all of those names, though I don't recall the explicit
    motorcycle.

    Cheers,
