Rose Bowl. UT vs.USC.

No. 1 USC against No. 2 Texas, with their
perfect records, potent offenses,glitter stars, rich tradition and
eye-popping pageantry are playing Wed.1-04-06, 7Pm, for the national
championship in the Rose Bowl.
The game of the year, of the century, heck, even of all time, some say.
OR, just another day at work for two-time defending champs, USC (?)
USC Coach said,''You can't get a big enough game for us''.
Heisman Trophy winners Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush have led the Trojans
to 34 straight victories.
But, unnhuh, the Longhorns also are 12-0,
and they've won 19 in a row. And, their QB, Vince Young is the Heisman
runner-up. Young leads an offense that has more than matched USC
touchdown for touchdown this year. Texas puts up 51 points per game, USC
50. The Trojans are favored by a TD, going into the Rose Bowl.
Longhorn QB Young, threw for 2,769 yards, and 26 TD's.
The weather out there in Ca looks like it will cooperate, suppose to be
nice, after the recent soaking rains.

Well, like Beemer said in his post today, Texas is nuber one, as of
Wednesday evening about 1130.
Facing a 4th and 5, with 19 seconds left, the Longhorn QB, deverted the
secondary of the geat USC team's linebackers to the left, and Young runs
o the right corner, untouched, for his 3rd TD.

Then, in order to win, the Longhorns had to run the conversion, instead
of kicking the extra point. QB Young, runs in to get the extra 2 points,
with no problem.

Now, there is 9 seconds left of the Rose Bowl National Championship game
in Pasadena. USC tries with their might, to get down the field to kick a
needed field goal to win a third NCG, but run outa of Time, and loose
41-38.

Texas wins their first Nat'l Title since 1969, and do it by beating the
two time champions, Uni. of Southern California, and bring the Trophy
home to Austin..
What-a-game.
And ABC did an outstanding job.

 

Actually, the touchdown itself gave them the lead by a point. They didn't
need the conversion to win, it was done to give them a 3 point lead so
a USC field goal would only tie.

Bruce, yeah that's right. Coach Brown knew they better go for the
conversion, in case that great team, USC, who won 33 games in a row,
marches close enough to kick a 3 pointer, to go in over time! But, even

Actaully, while a pretty good game, I wouldn't say it was tyhe best ever.
I remeber fondly of a thanksgiving game back when I was in college when
the Aggies romped the horns - that was better
