Has anyone bought a Rolson jump starter, and if so is it crap. I bought one
a few weeks ago and tried to start my CX500 with it after the bike had been
sitting for a couple of months. It spun the engine about 4 times and ran out
of power. Yesterday the cage had a duff battery (now replaced), and the jump
starter wouldn't even turn the engine. Obviously the unit's battery is
useless, or just not up to the job. As I bought it some 300 miles from home
returning it isn't an economical option for a £20 product. Can anyone
recommend a jump starter make that actually works.

Did you charge it for 48 hours before you first used it?

Yes, as per the instructions. It is a pretty poor spec, which I suppose at
the price point is to be expected. I see Aldi are doing one on Thursday
which looks a better piece of kit, I might even be tempted!

I got a Rolson one with compressor from ebay. Frankly it rocks. It's
started everything from 2.7L Diesel Nissan Pickups to my Alfas that live
in storage to the bloke who turned up on Xmas day having found his
stolen Sierra just round the corner. It started his car and then
pumped all of it's tyres fmor nearly flat without a mumur.

I suspect you have a duffer.

Don't hesitate to invest in the £25 jump starter from Aldi - fantastic value
for money - mine was nicked & the ins. co. replaced it with a Clarke one at
double the price which isn't as good (same power but less sockets for 12V
    plugs, etc.)

    Thoroughly recommended!

Sir needs a fucking clue by the sound of it. Two batteries on two
different vehicles and his emergency spare all not working suggest much
more to me than a few missing electrons.
