Played in a kind of reverse where all the kids run *down* the steps,
    screaming, followed by darsy?

    few hours.

You never know, when I was registering 2 years ago it was a no way not
ever answer and same thing last year. Suddenly in september I get an
e-mail saying activation in October. I am assuming that some big
cheese from BT has moved into the area.

The electricity company renewed lots of the overheard a while back
solving the continual outage problems, all I need now is a bus service
    & mains gas.

  5. Get yourself an account with you isp. Get all the filters in place and
your ADSL router / modem set up. My router allows you to automatically
detect the settings. It became active about a week before the actual
date. It went up and down a bit as BT where testing the exchange. But at
    least I had it...

Do not buy any kit *until* you have had the green light from your
chosen ISP that your phone line is good for ADSL and have been give a
    connection date.

I can play this weekend, pretty much any time.

My wrist is still a bit painful though, if I might get my excuses in
    first...

I'm sure it can still work sufficiently enough to get a round in at the
    bar :)

I thought that a confident, self-assured, usenet old hand such as your
very good self would find it easy to pass that one by.
