It seems that, against all of the odds, I have a pass[1] to turn up at the
R&B next Friday morning and do the whole alcohol/rock & roll/motorcycles
    thing.

When are others from here arriving? Is anybody turning up on Thursday night
and, if so, can they save me a bit of space, please?

Sorry, footnote escaped at the last moment ...

[1] I have a pass from the wife, but not from work ... things have been a
bit busy recently and they might actually want me to be there.

I dread to think what you had to do to earn enough Brownie Points for
    that.

Does that mean that you want some space saving too?

    That'd be a good idea.

Adie seems to be the one doing the general herding and organising, so
she should know exactly who's going, and where they all pitched up last
year. I'd guess at least 3 or 4 tents though.

    Consider it done then.
I'll assume the tents are 2/3 man size and try to allow for about half
    a dozen.
And I'll assume you are all on bikes?

Phone me when you get there:
    oh-seven-eight-seven-five one-three-one-three-nine-nine
    (And let it ring a while - I'm a bit deaf y'see)
    (Pardon?)

    BTW :
We'll be on the "car" campsite - my two boys are going, in a car, with
    some of their mates.

Not wishing to refuse your kind offer, but won't we look a bit like PFFs if
we pitch in the car bit when we've got bikes?

Same deal as last time, really - Lisa's off to her mum's, I'm going to the
rock and blues then coming home and flying down to Brizzle for a week in
    sunny Somerset.

More importantly, is it further to the bar?

ICBW, but you haven't been before have you?
The "car site" is 50% cars 50% bikes, bit of a misnomer really.
Its about the same distance to the bar, maybe less in some cases.
Especially if you get there early on Thursday like we do.
Its a more level site than the bike site and its also easier to get out
    of if it pisses down.

If you'd rather take pot-luck on the bike site that's fine.
If you want me to save some space for you that's fine.
Just let me know which one.

    Nope. Never.
    Ahh right.
That sounds ok, I honestly don't know who's going where, or how many, or
in fact anything useful at all... Let's wait until Adie shows up in this
    thread, she's the organised one.

You'll love it.Its a weekend of drink and drug fuelled debauchery.
Where the drugs are Imodium and Ibuprofen.
Fine. My mobile number is somehwhere up above in this thread if you
    need it.
And I'll check my e-mail last thing before I leave home on Thursday
    (about 11.30am).
So any time between now and then.

Best place to be is in the "bike" field, near the top of the hill, so
you can watch the sun set over the arena as you sip your gin and tonic.

Being at the top of the hill also means that your tent won't get flooded
if/when it pisses it down. And you're in a prime position to watch the
bad-ass bros trying to get their be-tasselled Hardlies up a wet, grassy
    slope.

    Ahh.

I might bungee on my folding chair too then, so I can have a seat at the
    bar.

Eh? Gin & tonic at a R&B festival cum custom bike show?
Beer and JD - that's where it's at at festivals, sonny {tm Auvache}.

Oh, yes, indeed. Those handy pre-mixed tins of Gordons and Schweppes.
    Very sophisticated.
For me, yes. The OH isn't so keen on that, though; she usually starts on
the G&T, then moves on to wine and falling over.
