Roberts on pole?

I agree that he should've left Suzuki 4 years ago and I agree that his
championship was a bit opportunistic (in that there was a bit of a vacuum
that year) but I watched him back in 2000 and he was always trying to graft
extra points, always getting up after a crash and trying to get going,
rejoining races after a tyre-change and trying to get that extra point...
in short; acting like I reckon a true championship contender should. (Not
kicking hay-bales or kneeling in gravel-pits in mock appeals to god like
    these other stupid wankers do!)
Yes I agree he hasn't been trying since the V5 Honda appeared but I still
reckon some of that spark can be rekindled if he can get a half-competitive
    package!
    ~
Yeah; I hoped the same but that's only because I can't see anyone rising up
to take him on (which I'd far far rather see!).
Biaggi is disappointing me so Edwards, Bayliss & Roberts and (maybe
Killer-Tamada) are my hopefuls for a decent fight.

    Biaggi is another mamola
Edwards, I dont think has it, but is only early in career in this
    class
    bayliss, no fuckin hope
roberts, has been.. get rid of him
tamada, would be nice if he was consistant...

Somehow I don't thing either Frank Williams or Ron Dennis would agree with
you. Both had much success with previous Honda engines and both their teams
are now sitting behind the Honda powered operation in the points. It would
appear your personal jealousies are giving you the power of no idea.

Not sure, I'm inclined to think he's entered the big league a bot too late.
    Paul Lewis revisited.
As with most of his countrymen. They seem to do well enough in the lower
classes but can't quite cut it when they get to the open class.

He's gettin' pretty bloody consistent! (For a second-string rider on
    wierdo tyres!)

Didya see.. didya see?... Roberts was the only one who immediately took
Rossi back after Rossi passed him.

Tady Okada would have a go, too.

In fairness to the apparently gutless wonders who don't have a lash, I'm
starting to think that Rossi can make a surge that creates a gap so quickly
that they just can't physically get near enough without going over the edge.

They get paid just as much for finishing with some points as they do for
    crashing, too.

Stoner's efforts should make a lot of the motogp riders blush. That boy has
    a red-hot go.

    Good point...
Its a shame, Im like Clem, I hope he can stick with it..
Abe is another almost, but never will... but then 90% of the field are
only there to make up numbers.

Yeah OK; not many results but he's been consistently fast and has been let
down by his tyres a few times.

He didn't give up did he?
I was stunned at how "perfect" his riding was and how he'd jump on any tiny
    slip by the others.
I almost cried when they just motored past him on the straight on the last
    lap......
    Man he deserves a win!

Abe's best GP was his first one. The way he'd tuck in behind Doohan and
then pull more and more impossible overtaking moves at the end of the
    straight was fantastic.

Sure it all ended in shit but you couldn't help but cheer for the cheeky
    wild-card!

The most boring thing about watching Doohan race was often the gap
between first and second. Not much dicing going on there. Doohan
    first, daylight second...
