Was it snowing, didnt anyone else try?
The others must be distracted by the Rio paddock girls. They should fly a few of them to replace the dogs in Spain next year. -- Cheers Dave (Mojo67) FZR600 >> ZX6R Brisbane http://users.bigpond.net.au/mojo67/mojo67.htm I used to never be able to finish anything but now I
Im still in shock, how that POS got up front, must have been raining.... Kenny Roberts returned to the top of the MotoGP pile some four years after winning the World Championship at the Nelson Piquet circuit, setting pole position for the Cinzano Rio Grand Prix with a stunning new record. Roberts' lap of 1'48.418 represents a first pole position for tyre manufacturer Bridgestone since they joined MotoGP two seasons ago and means both he and Suzuki will start Sunday's race, which starts at 11:30 local time (16:30 CET), from the front of the grid for the first time since Valencia 2000. "Bridgestone came up with a great tyre that allowed me to make time up in the corners which we lose down the straightaways," commented Roberts. "We've had a new motor for the last couple of races and we're making progress, just trying to make it back to where we know we can ride. It's a long road but at least today there was a little sunshine." With Max Biaggi second fastest and Nicky Hayden third, there was no room on the front row for championship leaders Valentino Rossi or Sete Gibernau. Whilst Rossi struggled to adapt his Yamaha to the Jacarepagua track and qualified eighth fastest, Gibernau starts from the front of the second row in fourth place after running out of time when returning for a soft tyre at the end of the session. Gibernau is joined on the second row by Honda colleague Alex Barros and Ducati rider Loris Capirossi, who recorded his best grid position of the season so far in sixth. Makoto Tamada, who scored his only podium here last year, heads up the third row from Rossi, who was comfortably the highest Yamaha of the day in eighth place, and Shinya Nakano on the Kawasaki.
Bridgestone have got some qualifiers apparently! I hope it's not too late for Roberts flagging career because I think he's about the only one out there with the backbone to take the fight up to monkey-boy (and we've all seen how monkey-boy crumbles when he encounters anything a little-bit tough!)
Which bit are you having trouble understanding? No, it wasn't raining. In fact it was 30 degrees. Bridgestone have shown good form at this circuit before - Tamada came third in the race last year. KRjr has been qualifying well this year. Also received a new engine last round which no doubt has had further improvments (tuning at least) since then. He's a former World Champion and likes this track. Bit clearer for you now? Jules
Formula 1 trickle down technology, still i would/nt touch them just as Nankano.. I think you will find that monkey_boy could lap the field if he wanted to..... CDIHL
Yeah! Ain't it grand! A Suzuki finally in the front!! Pity it counts for jack when Rossi and Gibbers go off.. TB
Why don't they trickle the technology the other way? I'm sure the F1 boys would appreciate being able to use the MotoGP technology which converts 200HP into 340kph.. Using "HatzOlah logic®" the F1 cars would be able to crack the 1000kph mark down the straights. Nev.. '03 ZX12R
. Using "HatzOlah logic®" Your arguement fell apart right there Nev, I have lost all faith in humanity...
I hope it's not too late for Roberts flagging career I think it could be his last if he doesnt start winnin everything in site.. The only one? You are drinking VB still arent you?? COME CLEAN DUDE.....
That's almost as likely as Sam Newman getting pole at Sandown. Oh, wait a minute.... -- Deevo Geraldton WA, The Nanny State (® Corks) http://members.westnet.com.au/mckenzie
If he doesn't sook out and park it the first time someone passes him. -- Deevo Geraldton WA, The Nanny State (® Corks) http://members.westnet.com.au/mckenzie
Ha, that's good, backbone and Roberts in the same sentence. The guy is a total fucking gutless wonder. We all know that Suzuki are notorious for not backing their riders, that's true enough, but if Roberts had any balls at all he'd be looking for another ride. Problem is that he's been sitting on the Suzi cushion for so long now no bugger will have him. As far as deserving world champions go he's right up there with Damon Hill, a champ by default. You are quite right about a lack of opposition for Rossi though, I had hopes that being on inferior machinery this year may have bought him back to the field somewhat but when it comes down to it the kid can ride. -- Deevo Geraldton WA, The Nanny State (® Corks) http://members.westnet.com.au/mckenzie
Good call. You missed Creville from your list If Rossi would have just settled down a bit more in his first season he could have been champ that year too Inferior in 4 wheels, good news a hahahonda F1 engine just went BANG AGAIN...."The power of no idea" CDIHL
not only can he ride but how well can he develop a bike? Anyone notice how well Checa and Melandri are doing in the points?
In all fairness the Yamaha was a sound package from day 1. A/Just Rossi was racing against it and beating it B/No rider had the skill [sorry Max] to fine tune it to the nth. degree CDIHL
I dunno about the grid girls, but, appropriately for Brazil, they had a couple of Amazonian podium girl. Nev.. '03 ZX12R
~ Bayliss is the only other one I can think of who doesn't just lay down when they get passed (South Africa last year). I've lost count of the number of times I've sat on the edge of my chair waiting for someone to actually FIGHT him but they all just roll over and let him through..... (and then sulk on the podium). Apart from when he over-cooks it in corners no-one ever comes back at him after being overtaken. I was raised on scrappers like Gardner, Mamola and Schwantz (shit; even Criville would put up more of a fight than these current pussies do). Clem
