  1. In uk.rec.motorcycles, darsy amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
    I believe you.
I used to buy a mix of about 50/50. Albums at the time were £4.99 in
    Wollies and a 7" single was 99p
I never bought any Joy division stuff but I did buy A Flock Of
Seagulls' The More You Live, The More You Love and Wishing (I had a
    photograph of you)
I had a few 12"s but I'm buggered if I can remember any of the early
ones now, that's why I believe you about the ABBA.
Dig it out, I'll have a listen.
Heh, the joys of the Unfortunate Indoor Barbeque.

Er, actually, I can't, though I'd probably recognise it if I dug
through my collection - it's probably still there somewhere.

First album I bought was, I think, "Black and White", along with "The
    Raven" by the Stranglers.

So I was about 11 when my Sister went to college and for some reason
left her record collection behind. One day I heard that you could make
flower pots and ash trays and things by boiling them up and making them
    all bendy. It works.

A couple of weeks later I took the record player bit out of her portable
Dansette record player because I needed a box and I figured that without
a record collection she didn't need the record player any more.

They'd give me drugs if I was a kid behaving like that today. As it is
I am old and have to buy me own.

Look on the bright side. Soon you can mix them all up and still have
*plenty* of time to find the one that you want.
