Roast parsnips...

.... are just as good as ever.

Saw some in a supermarket in Savoie t'other weekend and just had to
buy them. 19 days later, back from a New York/Kent[1]/London[2] trip
I'm home alone and looking for something to eat. Hmm, what can I find
in the sopermarket?

Ended up with four lamb chops, baked with mint, port-enriched gravy
and parsnips roated in olive oil. Washed down with a _superb_ 1999
Barolo.

Best meal I've had in a fortnight, including the three curries and one
Ethiopian I've had in that time.

I really do have to get across to say hi one day.

It was my friends birthday yesterday so I asked her what she wanted to do.
"Please cook me a cottage pie Molly". So I did and we spent the evening
curled up in front of the fire eating cottage pie, watching DVDs and
drinking claret. Her daughters finished off the pie for breakfast.

 

I love 'em. I started making parsnip curries a while back, which simply
rock.

 

Exactly, this is a really exciting rip-roasting thread.

Gilding the lily, IMO. Salt, pepper, oil, job done.

 

I think there's enough natural flavour to forego the S&P as well, TBH.
Certainly these didn't need it.

Not much meat on an Ethiopian, I would have thought.

 

I don't remember any of the riding being serious, in fact it was a piss
take from start to finish.

 

I am afraid you are mistaken. Parsnips are *always* shite, and should be
removed from all but pig swill. And then don't eat the pig.

Nah, I like swedes and turnips. Not that sweet you see.

Love onions, but unless they've been heavily genetically modified, they
still grow underground.....
