Perhaps just camping in England is a crap.

Camping is quite posibly the worst thing that I can think of doing.

Not at all. I just think it'd do you some good to keep an open mind,
and consider that just because *you* haven't taken to camping doesn't
mean everybody feels the same. With good equipment it's quite possible
to have a comfortable and enjoyable time, as thousands of people do,
    every year.

Now, if you want to pick on something irrational, choose caravans!

    with that northern ****.

Generally speaking, camping is pretty crap in England, so I'd agree
    with you.

This is because camp sites in England tend to cater for family groups
and you end up with hoards of screaming children running around and
    tripping over your tent.
Wild camping where you have to walk in for a day or so to reach your
destination is often the only way to get to see some things and on
those occasions it's hard to beat.
7 years 3 months if my memory serves me correctly.

I had assumed that Jones, the OP, could decide if he liked camping or
not on his own, being a grown up and all that.
Even though I've never slept in a caravan I would prefer to sleep in a
    tent than a caravan.

If one wants a room then a hotel or B&B will do, if one doesn't then
take a tent. A caravan seems like cheating somehow.

  8. If I wa nted a bike which I could be certain wouldn't break down, and
could be fixed anywhere in the world if it did, I'd opt for a Honda C90.

Going round the world on a Japanese faux-Harley is insane, IMHO.

It'll probably make a good bunch of articles for Classic Bike, too...

Hmmm. Step-throughs across the US, anyone?

Those damned inconvenient facts seem to be getting in the way of stupidity
and prejudice. However, as the odds are that you are nothing more than a
rather ineffective troll I think it unlikely that facts are of any interest
    to you.

  12. Around the world, I doubt if it would be much slower than the Kawa.

Honda C90 would be good in every respect - but a tad slow.

I've never uploaded to YouTube before, so it's probably farked the DVD
quality video, but it says the URL will be
    < but it says it's
    unavailable at the moment.

It's just as well, then, that most of the thread isn't about you and
whether or not you like camping.

Thanks to all with positive advice. I have already sussed the paperwork
and set the processes in motion. I did consider the plane/hire option,
but I really do want to camp and experience the whole thing.... spiders,
snakes and all. Think of all the bits I would miss flying over them. The
list of venues was simply an idea of the extent of my intended trip.
Most of Africa is out because of previous employment!
I am fit and well...... perhaps mentally challenged as I still intend to
use a Kwaka Meanstreak... sounds like an extra challenge which I am well
    up for.
The website suggested is full of really good info so thanks for that.
