    Hi all,

Going to tas from syd via the ocean road about a 8 day trip with a mate this
Sat. Back in syd for the bike show on the 19th Nov.

Does anyone have some must see/must do hot locations or some bike friendly
places to stay between Syd and Hobart?

    Regards
    Killer

Bonang Highway. Between Orbost and Bombala I think it is. Also Cann River,
that's a nice one too. Perhaps do one on the way down, then one on the way
back, but then you'd prob miss something more coastal. Meh .. it's all top
    stuff down there.

    Hi

Bonang HWY - last I road it, years ago though, it had about 10km of dirt.
Not bad dirt, but just so you know.
    Could be all sealed now.

Some where around Candelo coming down from Bombala gets twisty too.

Second the Bombala to Candelo road...twisty, good surface and little
    traffic.

Tathra always a good overnight stop (try the coast road fom Bermagui to
Tathra...some dirt and good views...fantastic beach expanses towards the
Bermagui end. More of this section being sealed......also take some of the
tracks to the ocean along this stretch of road (Mimosa ROcks Nat
    Park...variable qual dirt...can be sandy ...).

I rode down there a couple of days ago. There is still 7km of dirt on
the NSW side of the border and 12km further down on the Vic side. It
has hardly rained up there at all for weeks so the dirt is very dry and
dusty (which is better than the alternative when the log trucks churn up
the mud in the corners), so I'd be wary about doing it too soon after a
large downpour. Also on weekdays, beware of log trucks. The road is
narrow, they are wide. If 110km or so of uninterrupted corners is your
thing, it's not to be missed.

And you can get a schooner at the Tullah Tavern. Also has a 2 room motel out
back. Tell them Pisshead Pete sent you.

  8. You can get pints too and Ron operates a courtesy Navara if you choose not
to take up the offer of his _very_ generous hospitality and stay somewhere
    else in town.

    Tell him it's Smack's fault.
