road surface - loose stones

    http://www.aapa.asn.au/docs/publications.html

look under Pavement Work Tips No. 28

That's from the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association, which is an
industry association, and the Work Tips are advisories on how their
products should be used. Advisories given to councils and engineers.

Number 28 is about safe practices when resealing roads.

You know the usual method - spray bitumen, then dump bluemetal on it,
and wait for the cars to tamp it down, never mind all that loose stuff
    waiting to upend a motorcycle.

Well.. the industry association is quite clear, they shouldn't open the
road until they've *cleared* the site of loose stuff. Down to 20 to 40
    stones per square metre.

So if you see a roadworks site where the stuff is all over the road,
contact the council as ask them if they realise they could be in
trouble? Because if a bike goes down on uncleared blumetal, then they
    could wear it in court.

If you have gone down on loose aggregate or know someone who has, then
this information could be very useful to you and your lawyers....
