Toddler dies when crushed between two cars in apparent road rage episode.

I'm lost for words on this one.

What struck me about the story was the kid was in between the cars. You'd
think the driver must have seen him as he went up the driveway, but its hard
    to say from the story.

"The driver ... was actually removed from the car by family members of the
child, as a result he has incurred injuries that have required
hospitalisation," Detective Sergeant Colin Graham told reporters.

He should consider he got off lightly. Hopefully he'll get a touchup in
prison too. None of that will bring the boy back though. Its just one of
those fucked up tragedies that makes you sick to the stomach especially as a
    parent.

Bloody oath he should think he got off lightly.

If it'da been my kid he killed, he wouldn't be breathing any more, and damn the
    fricking consequences.

I'll lay money he gets off with less than 12 months prison time, if any at all,
given the completely pissweak attitude Australian courts seem to take to idiots
who deliberately {with or without premeditation} kill people on Australian
    roads.

actually, he received serious head and facial injuries that required
    hospiulisation

later the family caused that much trouble at princess margaret hospital,
that police had to go and calm them down "as such" and stop
them from disturbing the hospital staff

So far. I'll bet he bumps his head on the top of the
doorframe of the paddy wagon when they ship him from
hospital to the cop shop for photographs and fingerprints.
I'll bet he gets downright clumsy on that day in fact.

Bastard will probably have "two left feet and ugly
    shoes" on that day.[1]

Amen brother. Having said that, note my post the other
day on 'mens rea' in serious criminal offences (generally
occasioning death). You could probably go right to town
on the guy, and walk away scot free. (How *do* you spell
    'scot' in that conext anyway?)

Was discussing this one with She Who Must Be Obeyed earlier
today. I pointed out my opinion that the folks who "actually
removed" the guy "from the car, and cause him to incur
"injuries that have required hospitalisation" would probably
walk away without any charges, at least under NSW law.

Then she pointed out that they were Aboriginal.

Under white Australian law, that makes the family entirely
responsible for the whole incident, and the death of the
child "a regrettable mistake", particularly where white
West Australian or Northern Territorian police are
    concerned.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

It's difficult to tell. From the POV of a complete (or almost
complete) lack of pre-meditation and intent, then it's an
almost-walker as you say, but many governments have been getting
pretty pissed off at our increasing predilection for road rage
these days, and have been legislating fairly agressivly as a
    result.

As I say, it will be interesting to see...

Are you telling this as you were surprised by that behaviour?

I know nursing staff that have had to call security to remove Police that
    were upsetting the nursing staff.

Er, you mean "footnote not found, core dumped"?

    Footnote was:

[1] Julia Roberts - Erin Brokovitch

musta got canned when I cut and slammed the leftovers
    at the bottom.

    Happy now?

Idiocy and a one track mind do wonderously stupid things to people.
Hmm, i'll agree on that, it's a wonder he still had his legs attached.
    I'm not a parent and i still cringe[1]

[1]I wouldn't mind being one, just not for about, say 2-3 years. :)
