Road legal at last

  1. Yup, the Monkey Bike (aka the Money Bike, because I estimate it's
swallowed about ukp800 in its purchase and restoration) sailed through
its MoT to the amusement of my local dealer who hadn't MoT'd anything
quite as primitive for a while.

But just as he'd finished a bloke turned up on a BSA A10 for his
    MoT.....

Anyway, it runs a treat, is nice and quiet now I've set the camchain,
and I've had an indicated 45mph out of it, at which velocity life gets
    interesting.

I love it to bits. It's very, very silly.

There is a whole pack of lads round here who've got the modern copies of
those, one of whom I had a chat with the other day, and who is the owner of
the local shop that flogs them.

How much are they, I ask... £999 on the road he says.

How much if you fit the 90cc top end... reply is, they do a 125cc engine
they import separately, and the whole shooting match is just under £1500 on
    the road.

    Very tempting, actually :-D

Heh. I've sorted out the F650 this weekend. Tax, MOT, new rear tyre
and chain and sprocket. God it feels good.
    Pix, please.

    Sean Doherty wibbled incoherently...
I made new collets for the CB250RS exhaust headers today. Fabricated
them myself out of a chunk of old Renault 21 exhaust pipe. Dead proud of
them I am. I think I feel better for doing that than the bike does.

Riding one when your 6'5" is very, very, very, silly and amusing in equal
measure. Next on my list i think.

Sillier is possible. I was talking to the guy in Charnwood Sidecars
this afternoon, who was telling me about the time he put a scooter
sidecar on a Dax. Apparently it worked a treat - to the extent that he
    did it to another one...

I've just started riding the bandit again properly (no time between getting
it back and sodding off on a business trip for a week) and have to say not
only is it a bit friskier than it used to be, courtesy of a proper service,
but the front wheel doesn't seem to want to stay on the ground.

    In short, it rocks :)
