Road condition downgrades

  1. AP: Tore up roads ain't no fun to tear up........

I must admit to liking the moisture-rich weather lately. I don't commute,
and physical labor is more pleasant in temps in the low 60's. The rain
doesn't stop me from hiking, camping, mt. biking etc, and I have whole
mountains and campgrounds to myself. And while the Yammie isn't performing
it's intended function of carving up the canyons, it is of course benefiting
from some time on the stands under the lights. Anyway, while I have been
out traveling on a lot of the roads I am familiar with, roads in the
Berryessa/Clear Lake area for instance, or 35/9/84, or 25/166/41, I am
really disappointed in the brutal beating that the already-deteriorated,
rarely replaced roadwork has taken with the wet weather of late. Even with
the additional Caltrans spending, some of my favorite roads are going to
have to be downgraded due to the chunked-up pavement. And the streets of
the city? Let me just say that the SF Board of Stupes should abandon their
quest to tax people who go downtown and instead post "4WD ONLY" signs at
city limits. Tax money well spent my ass, let's just give 'em more?

Dang I miss my Buell! Why did I sell it........

How come there are no posts from LarryXL? Busy shop too busy?

    Later!
    Alex

  2. Hello from Mendocino!

Hwy 128 hasn't gotten TOO bad, at least from the coast over to Hwy 101.
There are some new slumps, and the 'rough road' signed areas are even
rougher. Just east of Boonville there is one-way controlled traffic (stop
light) where one lane dropped away.

Hwy One, however, sucks. Lots of potholes, lots of gravel, lots of little
slides and trees falling for no reason....serious lean angles not advised.

  3. UPDATE
OK, just west of this construction is a new slump, it would toss a
motorcycle rider if you hit it too fast, almost made me hit the roof of the
car. Just west of Cloverdale are a few slowly progressing slides, lots of
mud on the road, and some nasty rough road sections right at the county
line. Also just west of Cloverdale is a small detour where the lane fell
away. (detour goes into the eastbound lane)
Still sucks, but it is SUNNY!
