road ahead

  1. Hi all

On night shift last night - read a RACQ Road Ahead mag I found- article
about lane splitting and a prospective road law change. The copper
interviewed said in police doublespeak words to the effect of 'it's not
illegal, it's a grey area, we take each case as it comes.'

As far as I am concerned if it is not illegal it is legal, but I still dont
    do it past cop cars.

I love to do it past cop cars, particularly when I pass 20 or so cars and
they have no chance of catching up and booking me.

  4. I'm a bit circumspect about that, the only time I was booked for it the bike
in front of me passed the cop car - the cop looked in his mirror and flagged
me down - I didn't even get a chance to pass him.

They have to prove who the rider was, same with Photo Radar, too many people
just pay the fine rather than contest the ticket.

Dont stop untill they move to chase you then pull over, many times they wont
    bother.

Just ask a few Victorian ausmotions who passed a water police vehicle on a
double white line, a few years ago. They all got a ticket in the mail.

I thought registered owner was taken as driver/rider unless the owner can
nominate another person. Or the vehicle was reported as stolen.

So you shaft one of your mates. getting them to take the rap?

Or you nominate someone you don't know, they prove it wasn't them, and
you get the points, the fine, and a conviction for fraud?

I actually take responsibility for my own actions. I did the deed, I got caught out, I paid the fine.
