I looked at a Midnight Star, for the same money. Have a look at one
if you haven't seen one - not only is it a design statement, it is
prolly the most beatiful bike I've ever seen that's come straight from
    the factory.

The GBP is at a 14 year high? Might just have something to do with it.
Nearly 2:1. Oh, and no VAT on the USD, which for a bit of pissed back
of fag packet glancing looks about right.

I somehow thought that its looks would be lost on the UKRM crowd - I'm
    happy to be wrong.

The UK version of the XV1900 is the Midnight Star, there is an American
Midnight Star version which is all black (no chrome anywhere); the US
equivalent of our 'Midnight Star' is the Roadliner... it all gets a bit
confusing, so I just used the 'XV1900' label. I'm actually thinking
about a 'Stratoliner' import, which is the one with the touring kit
included. John Carr's listing them at £9399, which seems a better bet
than £9,999 plus around a grand for the touring bits.

I think Stratoliner's the dog's danglies (except perhaps for the name)

And in Dollars, and then the Uk price depends on the exchange rate whoich
    can vary.

    Somehow I doubt it....)

    OK Idiot!
    What do you mean "Also"?
The idiotic statement by toad................. is utterly and totally
irrelevant and actually one of the most idiotic replies I have read for
    quite some time.

I did take into account all and any US taxes.
You can purchase a Triumph Rocket 3 for quite a bit less than US Dollar
15000 OTR (or as they like to say 'Out The Door')
Try a US search for Rocket 3 OTD
Try a UK search for Rocket 3 OTR

The price difference I quoted for a Goldwing is also OTR (OTD) with all US
    taxes paid.
To be honest I erred on the side of caution with the Goldwing.
You can actually get a higher spec model for nearer GBPounds 6000 less.

Oh, and don't forget, if you import from the US, no US taxes are required at
    all!
VAT, and import duty at 8% are however.

Am I correct in guessing you run a business (crap at the bottom of your
emails)? If so. I find it amazing that anyone in business can not understand
    the concept!

    PS.
    Oh ****.
I just read "We can only ship beer to the mainland United Kingdom NOT
    America"
I suppose that totally explains you ignorance of anything international.

Well, I did say it was after a few beers. I mean your trying to hit,
what 17%, you got 4 in the exhange rate, the rest I reckon is probably
    US tax.

Anyway, if you want it, import it.

It wasn't obvious. The first post has no justification or reference for
    the figures that were used.

I suggest that the exchange rate used at the time of export is a mean
accounting figure. It is common practice to use this method to protect a
    company from currency fluctuation.

    [snip]
I do not run a company. That company are quoted in my sig because the
beer they brew I excellent, or at least it is a beer that I enjoy, allow
for the fact that not everyone likes the same thing.
    Oh good you *can* read.
Absolutely. I hadn't realised that on my last business trip and clearly
I wasn't paying any attention in the meeting discussing a 7-figure
project that I am involved with.
