Me. I used to own a KLR650 Tengai. I bought it as a brief foray into the big thumper thang, in the early 90s. I have to say it was a most underwhelming experience. Soft, wallowy mild, shell suit (the styling and colours) and boring are just a few of the words which come to mind when I think back on it. Mind you The KDX250 I owned a few years before that, was anything but. The ZZR11 was for the time an astonishing motor, but a bit of a barge. But I still remember it fondly. -- Alex BMW R1150GS DIAABTCOD#3 MSWF#4 UKRMFBC#6 Ibw#35 BOB#8 http://www.team-ukrm.co.uk Windy's "little soldier"
I was on the original launch, Jarama, late 1985, and I can tell you - every hack was *well* impressed. I remember someone calling it a "four-stroke 500LC".

Oh, ffs. GPz750R - watercooled, right? As was the GPz900R, which in a fit of corporate lunacy became the GPZ900R some time later. Don't look for consistency, there isn't any. Ah yes, I rode a mates one of those and thought it was absolutely awful, preferring the RD's and the TZR's a lot more. -- Lesley CBR600FW SBS#11 (with oak-leaf cluster) BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Real burds don't take hormones, they rage naturally

Champ says... The KR-1 can be made into a far better bike by throwing the engine in the wheelie bin and fitting a nice RD350LC F2 YPVS engine. That's exactly what I did with mine.
<also raises hand> GPz 305 (swapped my GS550 for it then flogged the 305 on for a considerable profit)
I'm going to rephrase the original question: Maybe it's just that they offer something unique that's never failed to impress. Everyone's owned shit bikes, but has anyone ever owned a lime green Kawasaki that didn't stir the soul just a little bit?
Not likely. Different company, isn't it so they're not liable for any debts from any previous company that may have had the same owners, staff, etc, etc. I *think* that your deposit would be held by Ducati UK, or at least they should have a record of it for the numbers they would need to order. Might be worth a call?
