RIP Fiona.

  1. Quite a few knew Fiona Welsh. She crashed her CX500 at (or near) one of
the EOSMs. More recently she had a GSXR1100. She's been getting more
and more depressed over the last year or so. The last time I talked to
her on the phone she was very detached from reality and barely knew who
I was. Last night I heard that'd she'd had to be commited but had then
been released to her Mum's care. Apparently she hanged herself when
    no-one was watching.

The last time I talked to her it was like the Fiona I used to know was
no longer home. She was just completely detached from reality. It was
like she'd just withdrawn into herself and no-one could penetrate the
shell to help her. She was my friend and she'll be sadly missed.

I used to chat to her quite often back when irc was popular.

I hope she's now at peace.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Molly. She was a good kid, and I was
singularly impressed by the way she got over the CX crash and
subsequently went on to teach herself to wheelie and stoppie - and
    crash a bit more.
Depression is a vile, insidious disease that nobody seems to
understand, nor to appreciate unless they have been affected. My
condolences to you, the others of your friends that she knew and to
    Fio's family.

Not known to me, but I feel for her family at this difficult time.

Depression is a horrible thing and many do not understand how it can
utterly take over a life and reduce it to an existance or a blinkered
unending trial. Fiona has found a release from her depression but
it's sad to have another life taken from us by mental illness. I hope
her family understand that there was little if anything that they
could do to stop her from taking her own life if she had set her mind
    on it.

Take care Fiona's family and friends - my thoughts are with you.

  15. Rather dazed and confused. I'm going out tonight to Cabbage, which was
a night Fio herself enjoyed. When I heard the news I thought I'd cancel
    - not really in the mood to go out party. Now I think I'm gonna go
    dance for 8 hours straight.

Tonight is for you Fiona, I'm gonna miss you.

I've passed a link to this thread to Anna (Fiona's partner) who's in
    touch with Fiona's fammily.

thoughts - they are also missing Fio very much but don't have usenet
access set up at the moment to comment here themselves.

You speak the truth, Mr Pip. Part of the problem is people using the
word depression when the problem is nothing of the sort. Real depression
is completely debilitating. Bit like people missing work with "flu" when
they've got a cold, only worse.

    Oh Fio.

I will remember you as I last saw you. On your GSXR1100 having a little
bimble with me and Tallbloke. You were a sensitive soul, and will be
    missed.
