I suppose spelling it backwards makes it easy to see that there is a
relation. What would you call a twin town for Glenelg though?

Is that the SA Glenelg or the Vic Glenelg :) The latter apparently has
Uchiura-machi, Oshima as a Japanese sister city. (Although it is a shire,
not specifically a town). The City of Holdfast Bay which includes
Glenelg[SA] has Hayama as a sister city.

Oh, you said _twin_ town - maybe the two Glenelgs are reciprocal twin
    towns/shires?

I'll just be leaving now - my coat is the reversible one behind the door....

    Cheers

Then there's the Ted Egan song "you don't call Woy Woy Woy so don't
call Wagga Wagga Wagga Wagga Wagga is correct" or words to that
    effect.

The only things you can reasonably expect to be accurately reported in
the Herald-Sun News Pictorial are Rupert Murdoch's opinions, and maybe
the contestants in the fashions on the field at the Flemington races.
As for that map... Warrnambool misnamed as Rutherglen, Dunkeld misnamed
as Dunkfield, some place near Clunes labelled as Penhurst which I've
never heard of, however there is a Penshurst way out west near the other
    "Rutherglen".
