OK. Which make will last longest if you fail to look after it properly...?
(I'm talking cleaning every night etc, not servicing regularly type looking
    after)

I swear my first ZZR600 had "Beginning to rot" as a tick box on the PDI
    sheet.

In the space of the warranty agreement, I had:

    1) New exhaust downpipes
    2) New front discs/pads
    3) New rear shock.
    4) New strange-bit-of-metal-on-swingarm-attached-to-brake-calipers (Torque
    bar?)

So much stuff rotted/went wrong that in the end I got the garage to send a
mechanics report detailing it all back to Kawasaki. Got a £300 cheque by
    return post, which was nice.

I only wash my hornet a couple of times a year (though i do run a cold hose
on it once a week in the deep midwinter to keep the salt at bay) and its
bearing up pretty well. If i'd done the same with the ZXR400 i used to have
it would have quickly turned to a pile of white furry dust.

Its worth noting that my bike is 5 years and 55,000 miles old and has still
has all its original components (consumables apart) including fork seals,
cables, exhaust and all bulbs excepting the rev counter one.

You'll remember that snigger next time your jappo blows it's electrics on a
    rainy motorway.

None of my "jappos" have ever had any electrical problems.

To be fair some of the shite old ones from the 70s used to have those
sorts of problems but unlike the british bike industry the japanese one
managed to develop their products until they were marketable. Yes, I
know they ripped off the british A10 design etc.

In fact, the Japanese industry did such a good job that the modern
British bike industry started by building using their electrical parts
(switch gear and the like) and then stealing their engine configurations
    (TT600).

Face it, whilst the British industry had a big part to play in the
infancy of the bike, the truely competitive product was developed by the
    Japanese (admitidly from others ideas).

I really don't understand why Thickbloke seems incapable of accepting
British Bikes for what they were; marvelous in their era but
incomparable with the current Japanese crop.

He's friends with me too. And he's fun to ride with. And he smokes
horrible roll-ups. And he has strange views on bikes - ah, you knew
    that already.

Colin Irvine <> spouted the following in

    Not since March.

What Blamey and Deadhead don't get is that me and Moosey are mates who
live a couple of miles from each other and have a legpull now and then.

What fun that must be for Moose, hearing you million-and-one variations on
the "Japanese Motorcycles are rubbish" joke.

Almost as much fun as it is for me listening to the usual underclued
tirades about how crap non-jappers are.

I haven't noticed those tirades. I've noticed people telling you that
*your* tirades are not based in any fact. I have four japanese
motorcycles, and none of them have missed a beat (except for user error).

    Well, what Blaney said basically.

It's just like Des and Fora really; you know you're wrong. Still if it
    amuses you fair enough.
